Question about HP Pavilion dv6000t Notebook
If, when you turn on the switch you should see a blue light. If it is an amber color, in the control panel, in administrative tools go to the device manager, click on network settings, and reinstall the wifi. If you still don't see a blue light, it may be your wifi card. After many years of use they seem to burn out and need to be replaced. It's located on the backside of your laptop. They don't cost much if you know where to look.

Check on the laptop and there may be a wireless switch on the side/front of the laptop you may have to turn on for it to enable the card.
Also some are located near the power button
