I just bought this lawn mower about 7 months ago and now it does not want to start I add yes to the carburetor then it starts and it dies within 2 to 3 minutes

Hi Ricardo:
Sounds like a PITA when you want to get the lawn cut.
These machines usually love to keep working so probably not a big deal. Since it starts you know (hope) it's just a fuel flow problem.
I'd start by doing basic maintenance:
- Clean the air filter
- Clean or replace the fuel filter
- Change the oil
- Check the spark plug
- Drain the carb
- Fresh gas
Give it a try. If it still gives problems let me know the details by comment on this post.

Honda mower hrr 216 pda starts up fine, runs about 2 minutes and dies out. I remove the carburator, took it apart and cleaned it, cleaned out gas tank and replaced with new gas, new air filter and spark...

Hello Frank,
I would purchase a compression tester from your local parts store. Check compression when unit is cold, then run unit until it dies. When it dies, immediately check compression again. If reading are close to the same your problem is probably not internal. If you loose a lot of compression once unit is warm and dies, its probably internal and will need to be torn down.(compression should be at least 60 psi if not more) If readings are the same, I would purchase a spark tester and check before and after again to see if your loosing spark once unit is warm. If compression and spark are both good before and after, problem is most likely carburation. Hope this helps. Good luck and happy wrenching!

Try this.
When the machine begins to stall, immediately loosen the gas cap.
If this works, drill out the vent holes on the cap.
Please post back to let me know if this works.

Sounds like your Carberator is plugged up. Take out the main jet and clean it and be sure needle is not stuck and not allowing gas into the carb.

Self-Propelled Model Starts, then dies after about 15 seconds

I posted same problem as this couple days ago. Took mower to shop. The governor spring (located just under the air filter) had come off. So glad it was something so minor!

Oil causing a problem?

Sound as if you have too much oil in the machine. Anytime you see white or lite gray smoke it is a sign of too much oil. Before you go through the routine of cleaning the oil out of every nook and cranny, try unscrewing the spark plug and clean it with a soft rag. It would have oil on it preventing the machine from starting. If this does work and there isn't a lot of oil in the gas tank now, just continue running the engine until the smoke clears. It won't hurt anything. But if cleaning the plug doesn't help you will have to empty all gas and oil from the gas tank, refill with new gas, squirt a little gum out carb cleaner in your carb to remove any oil there (this can be done when you try to restart the engine). Remember, when you are mowing grass if you are mowing on a hill) of any knd, make sure to turn the mower so the gas tank is on a higher level than the oil.
