Look at the bottom right corner of the taskbar near the time and there should be a program called "synaptics" or 'touchpad' or something of the sort.

Open that program and look for the setting that has to do with the horizontal/vertical scrolling and you can disable it from there.

My scroll pad is not working help me?

Well I will try my best to help you with the little bit of information you have given. There are several things that might have caused this issue. It could be a software issue(new program installed or a windows update), driver issue(update or malfunction), touchpad settings were changed(scroll function disabled) or the scroll part of your touchpad is inop due defective parts.

The first thing I suggest is checking the touchpad settings. These settings can be usally found by double left clicking on the toupad icon found in the lower right hand corner of your taskbar(by clock). You may need to expand your icons to see it. That should take you to the mouse/touchpad properties where you can make adjustments to your touchpad and scrollpad. If you cannot find the icon then you can use the control panel and then pick the keyboard/mouse settings. If the scroll is not disable and all the settings appear correct then comes the next step.

Next go into the control panel and select hardware and then the device manager. Once you are in the device manager you will need to locate the mouse tab and expand it. Then right click on the mouse device and select uninstall device. Once you do this your touchpad will stop working and this is expected. You will then need to re-boot your laptop. So you will need to press "ctrl" "alt" and "del" all at the same time. That will bring up the task manager where you can use the tab key to highlight restart and then hit enter to restart the computer. If that does not work hit control, alt and delete a second time and the computer should shut down. Now re-start or wait for the computer to re-start. Windows will recognize the touchpad and should re-install the drivers automatically. Hopefully your scrollpad starts working again. If not on to the next step.

The last thing to try is using system restore. System restore allows you to return your computer to a state it was before the scrollpad stopped working. You can find system restore in the control panel. It's location is different for each version of windows. So the best thing to do is go to help and support and do a search for "system restore". Then you can find where to go to start it. You will want to pick a date that was just before the scroll pad stopped working. Once you choose a date the computer will be restored back to that date. Any software that you have installed after that date will be gone. Files, pictures and anything that existed before that date will still be there. Once this is done check to see if you scrollpad is working. If it is then you may have installed a program or there was an update that disabled it. Be aware if that program or software is installed again the same problem could happen. If it does not work after trying these things then I would say that the scroll pad itself is defective. Replacing the scroll pad is not an easy task and the parts would cost more than it is worth. I suggest getting a usb mouse with a scroll function to use with your laptop if this is the case. They are pretty cheap and simple to install...just plug it in.

I hope that I have helped you with your problem and thanks for using FixYa.

Touchpad scrolling not working

there can be two problems
1. something wrong with ur HW, which is quite negligible, as there is very less possiilty of that.

2. most possibly you dont have installed the drivers for ur touchpad. pls install that and the problem will be resolved

HP Pavilion dv9000 scroll on mouse pad has stopped working

I figured it out! The same exact thing happens to me. To fix the problem: When you exit full screen mode, click your mouse on your internet page to make sure you are actively on that page, then hit the space bar twice. I have been using this method for a week now, and it solves the problem every time!! I hope this helps you!

I've also tried... Please click on Start->All Programs->Accessories, then right-click on Command Prompt and click on Run as administrator. Then type: netsh winsock reset , and press Enter. ipconfig /release , and press Enter. ipconfig /flushdns , and press Enter. netsh int ip reset netshlog.txt , and press Enter. Then restart the computer and check. Nothing has worked. Still allows me to connect to a wireless modem or a hot spot but not to the internet. It displays "Access: Local Only". I've tried other laptops and they allow internet access using the same wireless modem or hot spot. Yet, as I stated before, When I was in the hospital, I could connect to their wi-fi and get internet access. I also can connect this laptop to an ethernet cable and connect to the internet.
