Question about Nintendo DS Console

1 Answer

I have a DS that stopped working. The light will flash green for about 3 or 4 secs and will turn off. The bottom screen will just flash quick and nothing will happen. Have checked the battery and charged it but it still won't work.

This is a common problem with the ds prsonally i have fixed approx 30 in the last 6 months with same prob if you have changed the battery and problem still exists then it will 99% of the time be one of the 2 fuses on the circuit board you ae in a catch 22 situation as you need a trigram screwdriver to open up the machine (ebay) but as soon as you remove a screw your warranty is out if it is out anyway then i reccomend you try this just be carefull as the l and r buttons have tiny springs that can get lost very easily if i can help any other way please dont hesitate to contact me on johnmcvey24@hotmail.com oh you might also find it hard to get the fuses for it nintendo might help but in my experience they are not very forthcoming when it comes to spare parts (would rather you bought another ds)

I turn on my ds green light comes on bottom screen flashes then turns off

    • 1 Turn off the Nintendo DS, and place it on the charger. Leave the device for 45 minutes to allow it to gain a full charge, and then power it back on. Weak Nintendo ds lite batteries may cause screen flicker.
    • 2 Turn off the DS, and remove all game cartridges. Turn the system back on to launch the main menu.
    • 3 Click the small sun icon to open the brightness menu. Adjust the brightness level using your stylus. Turn it up to max to improve back lighting.
    • 4 Check that the Nintendo DS is open and in the locked position. It must be open to its default position to operate properly.

My ds lite won't turn on both fuses are good the top screen was broke so I tried another screen I had that dident work. So I put the old one back on and now the ds wont turn on .The green lite flashes then...

Hi,

It's all to do with the top screen... What happens is that when you turn the DS lite on it performs a quick check on the screens to make sure they are connected properly, if one or both are not connected properly then the unit will shut down.
The flashing of the screen shows you that that particular screen is fine whereas the one that does nothing is not connected properly, either through a loose connection or faulty screen/ ribbon.

Your best bet is to buy a new top screen (I usually get mine from ebay for around £10-£12) and fit it. That should sort out your issue.

Any further problems or questions feel free to message me via my profile page.

Ds lite flashes on but fuses are ok

One or both your screens have blown.

Try removing the motherboard from the screens and attach the battery the green light should turn on and stay on.

Now attach the lower screen and turn on. If the screen is ok the screen and green light will flash and then turn off. (if the screen doesn't flash the bottom screen is you're problem and will have to be replaced)

If this happens the problem is then you're top screen which you will have to replace.

Green light, black screens, no sound, needs new battery???

The alarm is just a coincidence i suspect, green light comes on and stays on probably not the battery at fault. It would be red.
If the green light goes out and screens just flash one of your screens are at fault or a loose ribbon connection.

DS lite green light comes on, top screen flash, then switches off

Check L2 near the power switch on your DS mobo. That part usually get loosen or taken out when you drop your DS. And usually you can recover it when dismantling your DS.

Flashing bottom screen (Nintendo DS Lite)

You need to check the top screen ribbon is fully inserted into to place on the board. A green light and flash of the screen within a second means ribbon not connecting right

Ds broken? Green light blinks, bottom screen flashes, turns off.

You will have to open it up and desolder the fuse that says, F2, and then solder a small piece of wire onto the two spaces that the fuse sat on in order for you to bridge the fuse because it's probably blown. Then try powering it up. If it works, then you have just repaired it. If it doesn't then there must be another fuse that is blown. Try testing the fuses with a multi-meter. I am guessing that it could be the F1 fuse if the F2 fuse was also the culprit. Do the same thing to bridge the F1 fuse and then it should work.
