WinFax Faxes Trouble!

Someone please help!

I backed up my faxes (logs, stores, folders, files, etc) to my PC.

I imported a previous back up to check for a file.

I tried to restore the backup I created today, and it would not restore my faxes ad their attachments!

I see the coverpages in the backup file created sitting on my PC. But when I use the restore function under Program Setup, it does not restore these files.

Please help!

Re: WinFax Faxes Trouble!

That response has absolutely nothing to do with WinFax. You're better of going to a WinFax specific support forum such as for better results.

We've seen this error many times, and in most cases the problem is due to mismanagement of the send and receive logs. You probably have way too many faxes in your Receive Log (or, some corruption) You should read this

Restoring sent and received faxes to fax logs

That's not the way to backup your logs. You copied only the fax images, and not the logs to go with them. This is a common error that is made quite often. Unless you have the original log structure, your data (logs) that link to the actual fax images (fxds, fxrs, etc.) are lost.

Bringing DATA folder from another computer, or old backups

rename the existing DATA folder that is linked to winfax to another name, like DATAORIGINAL,
then copy your DATA folder over.
Make sure Winfax is closed when you do this.
Once it is copied over, start WinFax. Your data from the old faxes should appear in WinFax

How to create "Message Stores" in Winfax Pro 10

To create the message store folder: 1. Close WinFax and the WinFax Controller. 2. If you are running Windows NT, 2000, or XP, stop the WinFax service. If you don't know how to do this, read the document How to start or stop a service in Windows. 3. Using Windows Explorer, locate and then double-click the Symantec WinFax Pro folder. 4. Click File. 5. Point to New, and then click Folder. 6. Give the new folder a name (My Faxes, for example) and press Enter. 7. Close Windows Explorer.
