Typically there is a plastic flag in the paper path that is pushed up or down by a piece of paper. That may be stuck in the detect position. The flag blocks an optical sensor (U-shaped plastic block about 3/8" wide) to signal detection. If that sensor is very dirty, it may falsely signal paper is present. Try a computer keyboard vacuum cleaner first, then a cotton swab or wipe with isopropyl alcohol. Do not use a wipe with a chloride disinfectant chemical. The sensor could be bad, or something nasty has happened to the sensor wiring. If the document feeder is detachable, check the electrical connector.
You need a document feeder. The printer has on or it doesn't. If it does you usually place the documents face up in the overhead feeder and the scan sensor in the printer will detect a load of paper in the feeder and choose to there instead of a single sheet under the glass.
document feeders have a small actuator that tells the copier there is paper in the feeder, sometime they can get knocked out of place and do not detect the paper...check for the actuator that senses the paper....
This problem occur due the DF is not detecting the Orginal size.
Check the Size detection sensor, located when u open the ADF cover u can see, Clean the sensor by blowing.
Look in the Document Processor, That is the auftomatic feed device.Look for a scrap of paper jammed in the machine.Try using a dustblaster(canned air) to blow the debris out of the feeder.something in the feeder is operating the switch that detects paper in the feeder.Good Luck
hello! check and look to see if there is anything blocking the paper feed area, if all is good, get some denatured alcahol and clean the paper feed roller as it may have a build up of paper dust good luck brother sr tech
When you say it won't copy, do you mean that the paper won't move in the feeder or that no copies come out? Do you get any error messages? Try using alcohol on a swab or lint free cloth and clean the feed rollers in the feeder. They sometimes get paper dust on them and they can't pick up the paper. Also make sure that any paper sensors that detect when paper is in the feeder are intact. Occasionally they get stuck or broken. Hope this works.
