MTD mower won't engage traction belts

The blades operate fine, it will go into gear, forward, reverse and nuetral, but won't go anywhere. I recently fixed the linkage that some how fell off. It worked great for one mowing, gears and speed control worked. I raised the back tires off the ground, gears still engage. All belts seem in good shape.

Check to see if rear axle is broke. Jack up the rear of the tractor, put it in gear and spin one of the rear wheels, the one on the other side should spin the opposite way. hope this helps

You have probably thrown the belt for the blades. If it continues to throw the bet check the tensioner.

Mower for Yardman 760 will only move in forward gear or reverse for a few minutes, then will not move in either direction whether the blades are engaged or not.

The drive belt going to the rear transaxle is either worn or the incorrect length. If drive belt has not been replaced in awhile, I would recommend getting it replaced. Hope this helps.

MTD riding mower does not move forward or reverse.

this is a belt driven transmission. from the engine driven pulley going aft towards the xmission differential there is another smaller variable speed pulley, there is a long belt between these two, from the variable speed pulley there is a larger xmission pulley that sits kitty-corner to it with a belt between these two. This larger "xmission pulley" is what drives the differential and depending upon which gear you have selected, makes it go forward or reverse. Check that both belts between pulleys are on, check that pulley's hardware is completely secured (nuts tightened down) The heads of these pulley's are splined to align to the shaft(s) and if they aren't tight, they will just spin and not engage the transmission. If your battery is under the seat, remove it and you should be able to see and access the aft pulleys. If both belts are on and engaging the pulley's and the shaft is turning on the transmission pulley than you have transmission differential failure. Bet it's the belt off or pulley head loose. Good luck, hope this helps

Stalls when engage blades in forward, but cuts fine in reverse

Did you try to disengage the safety feature that should shut the tractor off when the blades are engaged and the tractor is placed in reverse? I believe that it is located under the shift leaver
