If you use powder detergent and the machine is some years old . it is more than likely that the build up of power ( black greasy like substance) is breaking away in the wash action and being left on the clothes

Dirt and oil spots on laundry

The rear seal and the rear waher drum bearing is defective, this allows grease to get into the washer and that is what is getting on the clothes

I get oil/grease spots on my laundry ffrom my

You probably have a bad seal on the back of the drum, as that bearing is the only source of grease near your clothes. Good luck.

Black streaks on my laundry

Marks on clothing in a washer are usually caused by a reaction between detergents and fabric softeners, especially cheaper bargain brands.
If you are sure that the black streaks are getting on the clothing in the washer versus the dryer, it could also be oil from the transmission getting into the washer tub. See if the spots will come out using a petroleum distillate of some kind. (paint thinner, etc). If a petroleum distillate will remove the marks, it is most likely something petroleum based that is making the marks.
This is a rare occurrence, and most marks on laundry are caused by the dryer. Typically, the drum rollers wear out and rubber and metal filings can get into the dryer and mark/streak clothing. Hope this helped and sorry for the problem you are having. Best wishes.

Leaving brown/black smudges

This is most likely caused by laundry getting stuck in the front seal of the washer.

Washer shuts off and I have a burning smell

You might be starting to have a problem with your motor coupling. It sounds like an expensive part but it really isn't, it costs around 10 dollars. The motor coupling sits in between the motor and the transmission, it basically connects the two. When the washer goes into it's spin cycle is starts to spin the motor arm where the motor coupling connects to the transmission making the washer spin. If you smell a burning smell it may be the gasket around the motor coupling. It's a simple and cheap fix. When you tip the machine back your can put your hand between the motor and the transmission and you can feel the gasket around the motor coupling. It's about the size of a silver dollar. If it feels thin at all and you can feel dents in it or any spots that feel torn then replace it. Just remove the few screws holding the motor up and remove the black clamps and it will fall. The motor coupling will come right off with it. Make sure you unplug the washer first though. Let me know if you have any other questions and let me know if this was helpful to you. Good luck.

Black spots on white laundry

is the washer noisey when spinning? If so its probable that the main bearings are worn, & losing the original grease into the wash tub. At 10-14 yrs old its probably not woth fixing (assuming parts are still available)

Black spots on laundry

your problem may be because you generally use a 'cool' wash ie 30' or 40' Try a really HOT programme or two to see if this will remove the deposits that have built up What happens is that quite a lot of 'undisolved powder' tends to congregate inside the machine because of 'low temperature washes' Its a good idea now & then to use CALGON or some other descaling agent.

Mr CALGON please note my plug but it is good
