Question about HP PL4245N 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

Jul 19, 2008- I found one bad relay by applying 5V dc to the coil and measuring the contact as open, and one bad 6.8 ohm 7W resistor the user rrobert4 wrote the above on here i need to now the part numbers which was replaced by the above user i have the same problem 42" badge up has relisys model rp-4210s which has all samsung parts inside power board lj44-00068a-ps-423-sd-v 3.1 rev 0.1 20031030 when power is put in the relays just click and shows a red error light or sometimes it starts up with black and white lines across the lcd or can someone tell me which make or model a samsung s42sd-yd05 lcd fits if its cheaper to buy one with a broken screen thanks

SOURCE: HP 42" Plasma

I do not have a manual, but HP just replaced my Y Sustain board on my PL4260N (Model (ED429AA).
HP replaced it free because of a known problem with something they call "Plasma Mal-Discharge'.
The part number on the work order is 1032298-HS.

This did not fix my pixilation lines across the top.
I have been told that my Y-DRV is probably bad, but I need to pay for that replacement.
But, they did not verify that it is bad and did not guarantee this is what is wrong.

I had the same problem and HP has been very helpful, try calling this number 877-917-4380 ext. 79 and be firm tell them this needs to be fixed. They are sending my second replacement part and said they will keep sending parts till it works, this tv is almost 3 years old.

Just to update this issue, HP has now agreed to replace my plasma free of charge, they dont know how to fix it and after a couple of tries they gave up and I'll get my new one next Friday. For all of those trying , keep trying and don't give up, don't take no for an answer. The power supplies in modern TV sets are absolutely miserable and probably half of all problems stem from power supply malfunctions, not caused by circuits beyond them.
BTW, the main filter caps that you are replacing don't fail that often. Mostly it is lower value, lower voltage caps in the supplies feedback path that keeps the supply regulated and running are at fault.

Same thing happened to me. I called HP, and they said that they knew about this issues since about 2006-2007, and had been fixing it for customers up until 6 months ago. Now? You're out of luck. HOWEVER, I'm committed to getting their attention on their forums. Join the fight!

How to test fuel pump relay


Your GM car or truck has a relay to turn the fuel pump on and off. The fuel pump pulls gasoline out of the tank and sends it to the engine. If the relay fails, the pump won't come on and the engine won't start. Since many things other than a bad fuel pump relay can cause a car to not start, you need to remove it to test it properly. Look for your GM relay in the fuse box under the hood that contains fuses and circuit breakers.
Open the hood of your vehicle and find the relay. If your fuse panel isn't labeled, look in your owner's manual for the specific location. With the ignition off, pull the relay out of the socket. You might need to wiggle it a little to get it loose.

  • 2 Look on the relay for the pin designations. Most relays have a diagram printed on the cover. If not, look in a service manual or wiring diagram for your GM vehicle. You need to identify the two pins for the coil and the two pins that the relay closes to turn on the fuel pump, usually marked "common" (C) and "normally open" (NO).
  • 3 Turn your multimeter dial to an ohms scale and touch the tips of the probes together to test it. The meter should read zero ohms.
  • 4 Touch the probe tips to the pins that connect to the relay coil. The meter should read between 50 and 120 ohms. If not, the relay coil is bad.
  • 5 Touch the meter leads to the two pins that should make contact when the relay operates. You should not read anything at all on the meter, indicating that the terminals aren't making a connection. If you read ohms, the relay contacts are stuck or shorted.
  • 6 Connect one end of each test lead to each of the two pins connected to the relay coil. Connect the other end of one of the test leads to the chassis ground and the other to the battery positive terminal. The relay should operate and you should hear a click.
  • 7 Touch the meter probes again to the two pins that should make contact. They should now read zero ohms, indicating that the connections are making contact. If not, the relay is bad.

    I have a Bravo 3P pet immune PIR and it says on the connector that the contacts are normally closed. Unfortunately they are normally open. Is there something that I am missing? Even the specs on the...


    To work properly, this unit has to have normally closed loop circuit. With power applied, and no motion in its sight, should measure 000 ohms (plus any resistor value in series). When activated..the contact should show infinite resistance(open).
    You are only missing something if you're testing it with you in the the motion area.

    Trash it otherwise.

    I need to know the value of the Resistor "R1" in


    Let us use a bit of logic to resolve this... I have an Axiom but it would be a lot of screws to take out to get to the part... so let us think about this. The resistor value starts with a "1" and we know it is 5% tolerance (gold). we know the resistor burnt up with likely 5 volts on it... Value could be 1000 ohms, however the voltages present (12 volts max) would NOT have burned up a resistor of 1000 ohms. The USB area is mostly 5 volts and across 100 ohms is only a quarter watt... not enough to really burn up a resistor... First thing is to MEASURE that the resistor s open... in spite of being burned, it MAY still be OK... these resistors now usually either open or remain close to their value. The resistor ALSO may be a fusible resistor intended to act as a fuse... Is the resistor open or not? is it near a resistance with a "1" as the first digit? If it is not open I suspect it is not all of the problem. In that case, look for a burned circuit trace on the board. If it is open, then MEASURE the voltage across the resistor with the power applied. If you find 5 volts, then it MIGHT be a 10 ohm used to limit the USB current to 500ma. Get back to me with your findings... I have unraveled many of these things...

    I have a reddy heater model blp55va and when I start it by pushing red botton it starts but when i let off botton the flame goes out.


    Test the thermocoupler:
    Normal 0 Heater will run as long as the control valve is pressed.
    According to DESA test these parts. NOTE: Not all heaters are equipped with
    A relay.


    Thermocouple
    Turn off gas supply. Remove thermocouple
    from gas valve. Using a digital
    multi-meter set to the lowest DC millivolt
    setting (meter needs to have alligator clips
    on ends of leads), clip black lead to the
    very tip of thermocouple (end removed
    from valve). Clip red lead to the outer casing
    of thermocouple for ground. Relight
    unit output should be between 18 and 28
    millivolts.
    Relay
    Turn off gas supply. Remove bottom of
    base (if equipped). Relay is a normally
    open circuit between terminals 4 and 6
    which closes when current is supplied.
    Using a digital multi-meter measure the
    resistance. With no power to unit, resistance
    between terminals 4 and 6 is open
    circuit or no resistance. Apply power to
    relay. Resistance between terminals 4 and
    6 should be less than 100 mili ohms.

    I need the pinout diagram for a AC power adapter model # DPSN-186EBA from a XBox unit to verify voltage outputs .

    However you cannot just hook your meter to +12V and ground as the power supply remains in standby. You have to draw from the 5V pins at the top labeled 5Vsb. I did this by shorting the 2 pins with a resistor between 39 and 1220 ohms. I did not try any other values as these were the first 2 I found in my junk pile. Once current is being drawn on the 5V connection the 12V is then turned on. I measured 12.3V with less than 1 mV AC ripple.

    Onkyo TX-DS494 stereo receiver won't turn on.


    First, check which type of protect first.

    Symptoms:
    3 seconds (DC protect) OR immediately shut down (Over Current protect)

    How to confirm?
    1.Unplug the amp.
    2.Remove the metal cover.
    3.You will see a long vertically installed pre-amp board mounted next to those large power transistors fixed by 12 screws on a large aluminium heat sink.
    4.Remove this long vertically installed board mounted by 2 screws.
    5.With 2 screws removed, just pulling this board out and hold it with one hand.
    6.Plug the amp and switch it on.
    7.If your amp stays ON forever, the problem is from this long board.
    8.If switch off at once, the problem is from power amp board.
    Try the above- mentioned steps. If DC protect, write an email to me via searching you tube SR600 capacitor replacement. Don't be afraid.
    So many people wrote to me.

    If over-current protect do the
    following steps
    (O)unplug the amp.
    (1)download DS-TX494 service manual.
    (2)open the amp metal cover.
    (3)measure 7 large white resistors resistance loacated next to power transistors mounted on a large heat sink with black probe touching the middle pin and red probe to first/left or third/right pin.
    (4)If this 3 Pins large white colour 0.22ohm x 2 resistor is open with infinity ohms ,
    (5)replace it and jot down this channel for example left surround faulty. Usually only 1 channel went faulty.
    (5a)When the white resistor didn't burn, "2 channels" were damaged due to bad soldering joint of the large white resistor, however.
    (5b)When this happened, time taken of shut-down due to over-current is 3 seconds NOT immediately.
    (6)the two large power transistors next to this white resistor 0.22 ohms x2 should also be replaced.
    (7)plug the amp
    (8)switch it on
    (9)if ok, troubleshooting get done
    (10)if not ok
    (11)replace ALL the components of this power amp channel.
    (12)pre-amp section no need to check.
    remember if not OK, the replaced 0.22ohm x 2 resistor and 2 power transistors maybe shorted again. Check them first. If OK, replace ALL Components in this channel except 0.22 ohm x 2 and 2 transistors. 0.22 ohm x 2 means left and middle pin 0.22 ohm as well as right and middle pin also 0.22 ohm that are 2 pieces of resistors with 0.22 ohm in a large white 3 pins resistor.
    Remember sometimes the
    0.22 ohm white resistor is normal. If so, use a digital multimeter to measure the be bias transistor voltage via multimeter diode test function. You can compare the normal value,580mV to 650mV with faulty one,3.2mV. And the CE resistance is 1.8ohms only instead of 3 Mega ohms.

    if you have a continuity tester (ohm-meter), then yes, you can find the fault. check the heating coil located at bottom of wash basin and trace to wire connections and test for very low ohms through this coil...if not very low ohms (2-10 ohms) found then replace coil. if coil test ok, then continue tracing wires to source driver for any possible fault such as bad over temperature breaker (or fuse) or bad contactor.

    CT-27SX11E Fixed but need advice on R value


    i would not recomend replacing the 7w with the 5w, beacuse the resistor will allways run hot, hotter then the resistor should be. the resistor could possible melt anything that touches it & will not last as long as the original before it goes bad. find a 7w, if just for safty reasons.
