Clean your fan motor. remove carefully part by part(your fan motor, the coil and the rod). remove all the dirt. put machine oil at the rod, front and the back part. try to spin it. oil it and spin, do it again and again until the rod spin smoothly. and then put back those part as before you 'open' the fan. but remember, do not do this while your fan plug is still plugged to the power source. or you will be dead instantly. for your safety, you know. so be careful. last step, try it! :) i hope this will help you in fixing the fan.

SOURCE: ceiling fan power

It sounds like the fan motor has blown out. Is this an old fan? The motors do burn out every 5-10 years, depending on the brand and quality of motor.

SOURCE: ceiling fan turns slowly

If you've had it for a few years, the bearings are probably getting bad (dry).
Always start a fan on high---then go to the speed you want, only the high speed windings will handle start-up.

SOURCE: ceiling fan stopped turning

Usually the capacitor has burned out, and needs to be replaced.
Try going online looking at the manufacturers site and inquiring.
hope this helps

turn everything off and turn the fan by hand and see if it turns easy, if it's stiff and hard to turn the bushing or bearing have gotten dry or are going out. try oiling or replacing fan.
if it turns freely then check the voltage going to the fan when it's suppose to be running. if it's not at least 12 volts check the wiring and relay.

remove the cover and clean anything in the vent , check the fan for anything that could be touching it, as the back draft comes through the vent, something could just be touching the fan blade as this draft makes the blade turn slowly, which would create a ticking noise

My fan is not rotating when I connected to plug. There is no burning smell or anything. How can I fix the problem? Thanks in advance

Hello.

I have a Holmes pedestal fan that does this every few years. I have had this fan for about 10 years.

Unplug the fan and remove the fan blade guard. The fan blade should spin easily when you tap the edge of the fan blades with your finger. If the blade barely moves and abruptly stops, the bearings are dirty and need to be cleaned and oiled with 10W non-detergent motor oil. A quick-fix is a tiny bit of WD-40 where the motor shaft (the rod that the fan blade is mounted on) meets the bearing (the part of the motor that the shaft spins on). To properly fix this, you must oil both the front and back motor bearings which requires removal of the motor housing.

If the fan blade spins easily and you are certain that the fan is getting power (try a different outlet) the motor may be bad. Likewise, if the fan blade will not move at all. I do not know if Holmes sells motors for these fans. Here is their online support website:

www.holmesproducts.com/Support.aspx

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

P.S.: Never turn a motor-operated appliance on for more than a second if you know it's not working. That will cook the motor windings.

Have an expensive Hunter indoor/outdoor pedestal Fan that stopped working. It just "hums" and does not turn. Please help.

With the fan UNPLUGGED, try to spin the fan blade with a pencil or something that will fit through the blade cage.

If the blade spins easily, there is an electronic problem (control or motor) that must be serviced.

If the fan blade is stuck or very hard to move, the shaft and bearing are probably dirty and need to be cleaned. You can temporarily fix this with a tiny amount (a drop) of WD-40 applied to the shaft where it enters the motor. Spin the blade manually to work the oil into the bearing. If the motor spins freely, the dirty bearing condition is verified. To properly clean the shaft and bearings, the motor must be disassembled.

You can try and oil it if it has oilers on it...... or try and spray some WD40 right where the shaft comes out of the motor....If you can't get the motor to start then you may have to unload the freezer if you can't find a new motor to replace the bad one. good luck.....

Was vacuuming coils/bottom of fridge and my brush hit the fan and now fan is not spinning. Does the fan always spin or only when called for??? HELP HELP

Hi,
If the compressor...the black can in the back...is running then the fan should be running...
if it is not running when it should be, check the fan baldes, you may have bent one or more of the blades and now the fan is stuck because it cannot turn...
If so, just bend the fan blades back stright so they do not hit anything...

One fan blade stopped working and is hot to touch

The motor is 'locked up' that's where the heat is coming from. It may have a bad bushing or something is jammed. Give it a good look over you may see it. Does the blade feel hard to turn?

The bearings are dry. They are not really made to re oil. You can try...Try to take the ends off and get some 3 in1 oil in. That's all it needs

Motor can be heard going but the blade wont spin!!

There is usually a pin in the shaft of the motor, that corrosponds with a slot in the fan blades, it sounds to me like either (a) the pin somehow came out, or (b) the slot in the blades is rounded. Hope this helps

Fan blade won't turn, but will slowly turn if given a push. What is the problem? How do I fix it?

Replace the fan motor capacitor. If that does not correct the problem you will have to replace the fan motor.
