The 220v is for the heater in the dryer only. All other features are 110v.
If you hear noise of motor, but the dryer drum is not moving, then you popped the belt.
For a no start, check door switch with VOM / continuity tester. A battery powered tester works well to confirm switch works.
This would require popping top lid at front from it's corner clips, and tilting the top back to the wall as it hinges at the back.
Removing 2 screws (first) holding lint chute to under side of access door of the lint filter screen. Pull out lint screen as well.
Even if the is not the fault, it's a good time to clean this area of lint 100%. Remove front panel complete to access with vacuum. Inspect belt at the same time. Clean off the slip rings that the drum rotates on at the front cover. These are high temp nylon glide rings.
The next area of test will be on the heated tunnel in the back of machine. Two snap switches control temp cutoff.
One could bypass the switch as a test only to see if dryer fires up. 2 screws hold these switches in place on tunnel with 2 wires. Connecting these 2 wires together bypasses the temp switch.
If this confirms bad switch, replace it by ordering from appliance parts. There are 2 switches, and might as well replace both at the same time.
Confirm power at the main circuit breaker box. If this is also a ground fault circuit, these are know to fail as well.
Test with it's test button on the panel switch, and by circuit tester at the outlet for the dryer.
Good Luck..

My maytag performa purchased at lowes model no PYET244AYW won't start. It ended a load yesterday and when my wife went to start a load today it does nothing. Reset breaker. Checked switch in door it...

The part called the thermal fuse is very likely going to blown due to the lint build up around the blower. To check that thermal fuse remove the wires from it and use a meter and check for continuty with zero ohms resistiance. That thermal fuse is going to be in the housing where the blower is and i have included 2 pictures it is going to be either one of the 2 shown in the pictures depending when the dryer was built which one the manufacture used at that time.

I hope i have been able to help you fix your dryer,

I have an older Maytag D8512 with an electric igniter. When I push the start button, nothing happens. I checked the pilot light and it is off. I used a long matchstick to see if I could start the pilo

there is no pilot light. electric igniter will glow and pull amps allowing gas valve to open. if you do not see igniter glow it is bad or thermal fuse has blown. look for 120 volts at the igniter when running. if voltage found bad igniter, if no voltage trace back to fuse/stats.this assumes dryer is actually running. if drum not turning could be a number of things. door switch, fuse, etc

Dryer not working

Assuming the problem is associated with you changing the cord, it sounds like you have a wire crossed on the power cord. Double check how you have the cord installed first. If that is correct check your power to the dryer. Since you changed the type of cord, I assume you have had outlet replaced or have just moved to new house. If you have a fuse box instead of a breaker box, check your fuses. It takes two fuses for the dryer. If one of them blows, the motor will run but you wont get heat. The motor runs on 120 but it needs 240 for the element. I can't count how many people have bought a new dryer just to find out they only had a house fuse blown and nothing was wrong with their old dryer. If you have had wall outlet changed there could be a wire crossed in it.
