You will want too temporally unplug the refrigerator during the following tests. Make sure the socket is not corroded and the metal contacts are clean when the bulb is removed. If you have an Ohm Meter you can test bulb then the door switch by removing the plastic bezel and the switch. If you do not have an Ohm Meter make sure the filament is not broken then replace the bulb back in the socket. Disconnect one connector of the door switch and tape it to the other terminal so the two wires touch and see if the light energizes when the unit is plugged back in. If only one wire is connected to the switch touch the single wire to the metal frame of the refrigerator and see if the light energizes when the unit is plugged back in. If the light works order a switch, if the socket looks bad order a socket. 80% chance it is the switch 20% chance it is the socket or an open wire which you will need a Volt Ohm Meter. The parts can be purchased on the internet or you local appliance repair center. Please be careful as the voltage could be 120 volts AC.

How about the door switch? If you can use a volt meter, take the bulb out, and place the red lead on the inside center button of the bulb holder, Be sure not to touch the side of the holder. Touch the black lead to the outside of the holder. Is there voltage? If not, the switch is bad.

GE Monogram ZV950S D2SS range hood - lights on one side stopped working then on both sides. This happened as I was changing bulbs. Everything else works.

Light doesn't work
  1. Light bulb
If your refrigerator light does not power on, the first thing to replace would logically be the light bulb itself.
  1. Light assembly
If your refrigerator light does not power on and you have replaced the bulb, this is an indication that the light assembly may have malfunctioned and will require replacement.
  1. Light switch
If you notice that your refrigerator lights are not working, replace your refrigerator light bulb. If this does not correct the issue, proceed to check the power light switch.
  1. Door switch
If your refrigerator light is not working and it is not the bulb itself or the power light switch, the next thing to check is the door switch. This can be checked for continuity with an ohm meter. If there is no continuity present, the door switch will need to be replaced.
  1. Light socket
If your refrigerator light is not working after replacing the light bulb, check for a possible damaged light socket. If the socket is faulty, replace the part to get your refrigerator light to power on again.
  1. Light board
If the refrigerator light is not working the light board could be defective. The LEDs on this board are not repairable, so the entire board will need to be replaced.

Make sure you unplug fridge from wall power socket, remove bulb cover if one is fitted.Carefully twist or gently try to unscrew bulb. If successful take bulb to electrical parts shop and buy a new one.You may of course use your Fridge until you buy a new lamp,Refitting is simply the reverse of removing bulb.Good Luck!

How to change bulb in fridge

To change a light bulb in the refrigerator, remove the plastic cover that covers the light bulb. This cover should just pop off by simply squeezing the cover gently. Look at the bulb to see how many watts it is and the type of bulb, you can buy a new bulb at any home improvement center. Insert the new light bulb and replace the cover. If the light on the refrigerator is not working after changing the bulb, unplug the refrigerator. Using a screwdriver, gently pop out the push-button collar on the inside side wall of the refrigerator. There will be two wires connected to the push button switch. Remove the two wires and replace the switch. You can purchase this part at any appliance repair center that carries parts. Make sure you write down the model and make of your refrigerator and take the information with you before attempting to purchase parts.

My light blew out I changed the bulb but it is still not working

I suppose you should have checked that bad bulb and the new bulb in a working table lamp. If they work there then the door switch for the light may be defective or a connection has opened in the supply voltage. 90 percent of electrical problems are not shorts -but opens.. OPPS! something is missing. The voltage is not getting there

No light in refer but works in freezer

Check the door switch to see if is working and try another light bulb or try the light bulb somewhere else to see if the light bulb is good. Check to if vent holes coming from the feezer are blocked by something in the fridge. This will make it feel like your fridge is not working.
