Dell W1700 17 in. HD-Ready LCD Television Logo
Posted on Nov 16, 2007

Dell w1700 As with most Dell w1700's no picture only audio. I replaced the backlight inverter board and fired it up and the tv worked perfectly. Only problem is no picture on the pc monitor side only a test pattern. Obviously I have done something while it was apart. Cable and hook-ups all fine. Any ideas?

My Dell W1700 worked fine for 3.5 years. But one day I turned it on and got black screen with only sound.

I took everything apart. I don't know which board to replace and where to get it.

    Any suggestions?

Dell w1700 audio and video but no backlight is this a cheap and easy fix?

It more likely to either be the 24vdc power supply is not wrking or failed backlight inverter board, need to find out if it has 24vdc feeding the inverter board first.

Dell W1700 LCD TV static audio and b/w picture

Hi bsut96,
Check the cable between the monitor and the box for damage. Try a new cable. It may be a problem with the input board but it sounds like a cable problem. Let me know what you find and please rate this solution. Lone99star

Dell W1700 new inverter board, same problem!

you may have gotten a bad board. this board is the most common failure to the back lights lighting. the cffl's can not be replaced they are a part of the panel, you would have to completely dismantal the panel to get to them. if you feel that the board is good the next step is the main board. the feed back to the main board is not being excepted the processor, replace the main board.
