Question about Fuji FinePix Z10fd Digital Camera

1 Answer

My camera got a little wet 2 days ago.

My finpix z camera got wet in my bag when a water bottle leaked. It didnt get completly wet but it wont turn on. Is there any way to fix it? Or is it broken for good? I took out the battery and memory card, but at the time my immediate reaction was to turn on my camera to see if it was ok. (which I now know is bad to do after getting it wet) The camera has sentimental value as it was given as a gift, so If possible I would like to get it working again. Please help, and thanks for any advice.

Good luck with this, water is NEVER good in a camera. Best advice is to open it up as much as possible, remove cards, open access doors etc and place it in a warm dry place for a few days. Hot water cupboard is best. With luck the water will dry and it might come on. If it had been salt water or Sports drink full of sugars etc then you may as well ring up your insurance.

A bottle of water exploded in my bag and my ds lite got wet too and now it wont turn on or charge

From what I read online to people that had a DS get wet was remove the battery.... Place the DS in a ziplock bag full of rice. I guess the rices will absorb the moisture left in the unit.. I don't know if this will work ... but it is worth a try.. Most people felt that you needed to leave it in the bag for at least 3-4 days or up to a week.... hope it helps

Pantech matrix got wet wont charge

your battery is probably bad. take out the battery and plug it up and try to turn it on without the battery in. if it works just replace the battery. if not then your phone is fried.

Solid Blue Light On the Left Side

you can take the battery and the back off the device and place in completely submerged in a bag of white rice and leave it in there for 1 to 2 days this will help absorb the moisture, this should fix it if the water did not damage the circut boards if the water damaged the circut boards then the device is fried

Accidentally left in water, won't turn on. Is it done for?

I agree with Turbo76 but if water damaged, you may have fried a chip. The reason the lens crawls is because of water in the gears. If you have patience, you can probably take it apart. There are a few screws on the outside and the front just pops off. Not really hard to do.

If you feel like working on it, I would first power it on and remove the batter so that the lens is out. This will allow you to wipe the surface.

I would then remove the outer screws and lift up the face. There are two tabs that you need to flip up in order to remove the ribbon cables. There are only two of them.

And the lens assembly just lifts out. No screws....

Once out, try to carefully wipe anything down, and try to clean out any wetness that may still be present or mildew.

In order to really clean the lens, I don't recommending you take it apart unless you have the patience to reassemble it.

You may need to clean the physical gears. But I'll leave that for another day.
