Question about Apple iPod touch

Ipodjo5107tssaz ipod jo5107tssaz my computer tells me my ipod is corrupted and i have now connected it in disc mode but my itunes is not recognizing it. it has been saying do not disconnect for atleast an hour

    i cannot right click and format because my computer does not show the ipod is attatched. i now have just a black circle with a bar across it and it keeps flashing but as i have said there is nothing on my computer to say its doing anything

I agree, it would be easier to format the ipod in disk mode if your computer recognizes it. Just right click and format. After that is done, disconnect the ipod using the disconnect hardware icon on the taskbar and plug it back in. iTunes should prompt you to download the latest update.

Your going to have to wipe this ipod and start over again as if it got corupted you need to hold in the power followed by the home button for 10 secound then let it go this will wipe your ipod into factory setting.

Why wont i tunes recognize my i pod and sync my music to it


Your ipod may be corrupted and will need to be wiped and restored.
First of all try another lead to connect your ipod to pc.
Also look inside bottom of ipod to check no bent pins in ipod dock.
Also reinstall itunes incase of program corruption.
If still not working you will have to put ipod in disk mode.
Switch ipod off then switch hold button on and off then hold down centre putton and bottom pause button until TICK appears.You are in Disk mode.
Go to file explorer and right click your ipod if shown,Chose FORMAT then chose restore device defaults and restore. Once formatted open itunes and connect ipod with good lead.Ipod can now be restored from backup or a clean restore can be done

Locked ipod won't connect to itunes


put your iPod to DFU mode, that way, your iTunes will recognize our iPod.

put your ipod in disk mode by following these steps.
press and hold the Menu and Center buttons on the clickwheel. when you see the apple appear, switch your fingers to the center and play/pause buttons.
whena check mark appears plug it into you computer and it should detect and mount.
add music and have fun.

MY IPOD IS CORRUPT?


try this.
put your ipod in disk mode.
Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons til the apple appears.
then quickly change to the Play and center buttons and hold.
the ipod will show a check mark.
hook up to your computer and see if it mounts.
if so, click the restore button, restore your ipod and when finished it should come up easily on
iTunes.
this operation will wipe your ipod clean and replace the corrupt software.
reload your tunes and enjoy!

If your ipod is not recognized by either the computer or itunes try putting the ipod into disc mode and reconnecting the ipod.
Make sure you have the latest version of itunes by opening itunes and in the top tool bar click on Help; you will then click on About itunes. If it is not itunes 8, you will need to update that first.
Here are the steps to putting an ipod into disc mode...
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears. When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will change and say "Do not disconnect" If you are having difficulty putting the iPod model into disk mode, set it on a flat surface. Make sure that the finger pressing the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the center.
Once you have gotten the ipod into disc mode go ahead and connect it to the computer. It should show up in itunes at this point. So long as it does you will want to restore it, and just in case your not sure as to how to do that here are the steps for that as well...
Select your iPod in the Source panel and you will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are: Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod. Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available. Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software available. Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software available. If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring. Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models). Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models). Ipod won't sync with itunes on windows operating system


An iPod formatted to a mac will not sync with a PC. (I'm not sure why the rep told you it should) However an iPod that is formatted for a PC can be used with both the mac and PC hardware. The only difference you should notice when using with your mac is that it will load slightly slower, and it will not be able to be updated on the mac. To reformat it simply restore using itunes. If it will not show up in itunes at all then you will want to place the iPod into disc mode before connecting to the computer. Below I have posted a step by step on getting the iPod into disc mode as well as restoring just in case you need the information. :)
Having your antivirus active during an iTunes installation can in fact cause download errors though. If you do not have iTunes version 8.1.1.10 you will need to update your software before proceeding. If you are unsure on how to check, simply open iTunes and click on Help in the top toolbar. then select about iTunes. This will tell you what version you are running.
Putting ipod into disc mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363 Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.) 120GB classic ipod is corrupt


You will want to attempt to force the iPod into disc mode then restore using iTunes. With the iPod in disc mode, iTunes should show the iPod. You will have to restore the iPod to resolve the issue of corruption though. Please let me know if this does not resolve your issue. :)

Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.

After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.

Try this: turn off your ipod, hold the home button, and plug it into itunes while still holding the home button until a picture of the itunes symbol appears with a cable under it. itunes should say "ipod found in restore mode". This will completely reset your ipod, hopefully fixing any bugs or problems in it. also, you will lose all data saved on the ipod that isn't also backed up by itunes. Music, pictures, and video can be re-synced.

hold down the middle button and the Menu button until the apple icon came up on my iPod. At once, the iPod icon returned to my desktop AND on my iTunes window. Works great now. Just like nothing happened.Good Luck!!!!!!!
