Check Yellowpages for a camera repair shop. Often they can really help as optics are a part of their game.

I dropped my new Nikon Action 8x40 on the carpet, still it did chip an inner lens because you can look in the end and see chipped glass inside :( How can I repair it?

If you can see broken lens glass, you have a major problem.
Check to see if you can still use them normally as any other
binoculars. If you can, you can ignore the glass chips.
If they obscure the image, or blur the image, or interfere with
focussing, you will have to get the binoculars repaired. It may
be cheaper, if the binoculars are out of the warranty period, to
just go ahead and buy another pair.

I dropped my Binoculars and the lens are out of focus with each other. Can you help?

Your binoculars either have a bent or broken yoke assembly (the bit which carries the eyepieces) or one or more prisms have came unseated. It's not uncommon to have both faults after dropping binoculars.

The first repair involves replacing the entire yoke assembly: the part is expensive in comparison to the retail cost of a new pair of binoculars and with labour charges on top is not usually a cost-effective repair except on high end models which cost in excess of around £250

The second repair is straightforward and fairly quick for anyone with the right collimation equipment (in effect, a professional repairer), but the screw(s) usually need to be secured with thread-locking liquid afterwards to prevent them working loose.

Either way, you need to decide whether to send the binoculars for a repair estimate or to replace them.

I hope you manage to use this information to fix your binoculars or at least that it assists you to choose your next course of action. Please take a moment to rate the free answer I have provided for you and any testimonial which you might wish to add is always welcome!

Binocular out of synch, get a slight double image.

The yoke which carries the eyepieces has broken, allowing one lens to move independently of the other.

They can be repaired by replacing the entire yoke assembly (gluing is never accurate enough and never lasts) but the repair will not make economic sense as it will be cheaper to throw them away and buy another pair unless you have them covered by an insurance policy.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend a Japanese repair outlet, the closest I've used in your part of the world is in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I've always found getting repairs to cameras and other optical devices to be near impossible in Japan due to the prevalent culture of buying new rather than getting things fixed.

Apart from in Kuala Lumpur, I've generally found that optical repair specialists worldwide typically have a six week turnaround time unless you pay a lot extra for the 24/48 hour turnaround aimed at professionals, so even if you can get the repair done cheaply you may decide to just replace them anyway.

However I have found an old list of Nikon repair outlets which you may wish to try and contact to ask for advice.

Nikon Service Centres Fukuoka (092) 415-6350 Nagoya (052) 954-0122 Nihonbashi: (03) 3281-6810 Niigata: (025) 222-1461 Omiya: (048) 644-8011 Sapporo: (011) 231-7896 Sendai: (022) 227-1237 Shinjuku: (03) 3349-0701 Yokohama: (045) 312-1101
Hope this helps, if so please return the favour by taking a moment to rate my answer.

Advance 7 laptop broken power supply port on the back.

you need to have the power jack resoldered to the board, not for the faint of heart. I do this kind of work on a daily basis. Basically have to take the laptop completely apart, and may have to order a new power jack if it is damaged. Tedious work that requires a steady hand and in some places can be quite expensive. If your laptop is over 3 yrs. old, not worth it. But odds are your information is intact, so if fixing the power jack is too costly, take it to a repair shop and have them backup your data for you. If you want me to fix it, it's about $150 and I will only charge you shipping for your laptop and give you the jack at cost, which are normally around 10 to 20 bucks + shipping. Email me at I am a licensed computer technican in the Naples, FL area and have been working on computers for 18 years. Take care.

Problem with fe-210

Lens gears are probably broken off, or other problem with lens. Will need to replace lens, or may possibly be repaired. I've repaired a few lenses with gears broken off, by replacing broken off posts with similar size plastic pieces(drilled holes and super glued in place, being very careful). Still working months after repaired. Olympus repair shops can replace anything needed, but at a HIGH price; sometimes cheaper to replace camera than to have them work on it.
