Question about KitchenAid KSCS25FKSS Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

I have a KSRS27GWH02 side by side refrigerator, freezer out

I have a KSRS27GWH02 side by side refrigerator, built 03-2000. The freezer has stopped freezing, but still is functioning in that it is very cold to the touch. The ice is melting, so I have removed all the frozen materials.

There is power to the unit and the fan in the rear is working.

The refrigerator still seems to be working.

I noticed that the thermostat seems to be clicking on and off numerous times a minutes. So I removed the back cardboard panel and can hear clearly the clicking from a white switch.

Could it simply be this switch needs to be replace and if so, what is the part number and where do I get it?

Take the make, model number, and serial number to an appliance parts dealer, Explain to them, where and what this switch is doing. They should be able to provide you with a solution or part. A white switch, located behind a box? It would be inside a cover, attached to the compressor. That would be a relay. If you decide to remove it, unplug the box. Remember where the wires go. Take it with you. Good luck.

THE FREEZER STOP FREEZING AT THE TOP BUT THE BOTTOM

check the evaporator coil in the rear area of the freezer behind a panel for being iced over,if so defrost it with a hand held hair dryer, then check the defrost heater element for continuity under the coil,if this is o.k. then suspect a defective defrost control

Frigidaire side by side freezer - LOUD noise...

It sounds like the evaporator fan is hitting ice that is built up on the evaporator coil. When it's making the noise, open the freezer door and see if it stops.
(Most models are wired so that the evaporator fan cuts off when the freezer door is open.)
Check the inside back, lower panel of the freezer for ice built up or frost on it. If there is, you have a defrost problem that is most likley a bad heater. It's located around the coil inside the freezer behind the panel you will be looking at. The defrost problem would explain the freezer not freezing ice cream.

FREEZER SOUNDS VERY NOISY

I turn off the power of refrigerator for 24 hours and defrost the frezzer. The noisy sound stopped. I think sometimes we did not close refrigerator tightly, the ice built up caused the problem.

GE monogram side by side built in refrigerator: fan behin Climate control drawer makes noise when it starts

IS THE NOISE SOMETHING HITTING THE FAN BLADE?
CHECK THE FAN ASSEMBLY BY REMOVING THE BACK PANEL IN THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT.

NORMAL NOISES IN THE UNIT ARE A GURGLING NOISE OR THE SOUND OF RUNNING WATER OR HISSING. THIS IS DUE TO THE FREON BEING PUSHED THROUGH THE SYSTEM AS THE COMPRESSOR RUNS. POPPING OR SNAPPING CAN OCCUR WHEN THE COILS IN THE FREEZER MOVE DUE TO A CHANGE OF TEMPERATURE.
