Question about Xerox WorkCentre M20i All-In-One Laser Printer

Hi. I have a Xerox M20i. The fax machine will ring, but then immediately hangs up. I have reset the memory and the DIMM chips as suggested by Xerox. The phone line works as the machine can fax out. Help please

Is your phone line in the " line" jack and not the ext jack?
If the line is digital it will do that.
If the phone line voltage is low, the line current low that will also cause the problem.
In your fax settings. Is ECM turned ON.
Is Junk Fax OFF.
Secure Fax OFF.
Delay Fax OFF.
If your phone line is weak, it will cause that problem.

The phone line has to be good. There are times at the phone poles the phone people can find problems at the connections. Everything is not permanent at these connections. Call the phone company and make sure the phone line is clean, no noise and have them check for absolute all checks, resistance, voltage, line noise, and the phone company is switching at the telephone main computer service terminal.
If these are done and the machine still has this problem, try putting the machine in another good known location and use the fax send-recieve functions to see if it fully works. If the problem is still there, possibly the modem is defective or the main board not working, and needs to be replaced.

I have Xerox M 20i .When ever I feed papers from ADf. Print is not coming normal.Some time it shrink the text,I checked the roller are fine.

The Xerox is a business machine and has a setting to reduce the size of scans by percentage.

The closest that you can get to a full factory reset is by doing the following
First: Press the [Machine Status] key
Second: Using the Navigation Keys select [System Admin Tools] and press [Enter]
If the System Admin Tools have already been passcode protected, type in the password and press [Enter]
Third:Select [Clear Memory] using the Navigation Keys and press [Enter]
Click System Data and press [Enter]
You May want to click on each of the given options to make sure everything is gone.

Xerox Workcentre7242 fault/error 116-324. About 2 seconds after the menu appears the fault/error displays.

That indicated the machine is not reading the DIMM network chip.
I would think removing the memory chip , cleaning it and reinstalling it would resolve the issue. It is possible the network board is bad. I suspect just an iffy connection with the DIMM memory .

Some ideas.
First , go to the back of the machine, there is a panel about 6 inches square with a couple of tabs on it to remove that panel. Turn the machine off, remove the panel. Remove BOTH memory sticks. With the memory sticks removed, turn the machine back on and let it come to ready. Then reinsert the memory sticks and power the machine back on.

Second, Go to Click downloads and drivers. Then enter M20i in the search box. Go to downloads and drivers and scroll down to the FIRMWARE download, It should probably be version 2.9. May be higher like 3.1. Anyhow, Download the newest version of machine firmware and install it on your machine.
Other things to try if one of the first 2 dont help.

Change the ethernet speed (auto, 10M half, 10M full, 100M half, 100M full)
Reset NIC card
Reset copier back to factory default
Clear all the memory in copier

Where do you plug in the telephone jack

To connect the machine for use as a fax machine, plug the cord into the left side of your machine, lower phone jack labeled LINE and the other end into the wall phone jack. To connect a telephone to your machine, plug into top jack on the left side of machine labeled EXT. Reference page 2-12 of this link to your Xerox WorkCentre M20i User Guide.

Changing print properties shuts down all open programs instantly!

I would first of all Go to the site and go to Drivers and downloads for the M20i and install the newest firmware. I believe the current version is 3.4.
I believe your problem would be resolved in loading the newest machine firmware.

Hp P3005x hang up!

The DIMM is a removable memory chip installed for adding additional memory. You'll have to replace it. Look in your manual for how to change the DIMM. You can usually remove it and see if the printer works. If you don't see the message again, then you should replace the chip.

It sounds like the fuser rollers are not at the proper temperature to work.

They should be inspected by a technician.

Good evening niebs, The first thing I would do is eliminate the network connection as an issue. The easiest way (if you don?t have a network testing device) is disconnect the network cable from the printer and connect a laptop. Then configure the laptop using the same IP, subnet mask, gateway and DNS server IP you used in the printer and test for a good network. I would make sure I had Internet access on the laptop as well as the ability to ping. This test has the added effect of ensuring these numbers are in fact correct. If you have eliminated the network connection the next thing to check is the person who configured and maintains your network and servers. Checking with them will eliminate the possibility that they have setup the network to prevent anyone from connecting network devices without permission. By default I prevent my switches from allowing people to plug in other equipment that isn?t registered with me. That trick has saved me from a lot of problems over the years. You mentioned resetting the Network Interface Card (NIC) but I would go a step further, restore the factory settings on the entire machine and start from scratch. You might want to check with your network administrator to find out what you network switch connection speed is set to. If it?s set to auto make sure your print server is as well. If that doesn?t work try setting your print server to 10Mbps, half-duplex. I?ve had some problems in the past with auto not working correctly on print servers. If this printer is still under warrantee then I would get on the phone and contact the help desk, you might just have a lemon. Let us know how things go and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
