Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too. Height of exit hose (behind machine) should be approx 3 feet from ground level when you are re-fitting.

The washer on my double stack won't drain or spin.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Without a complete model number, I'm guessing but usually, washers have a lid lock built in that prevents the washer from draining or spinning unless the lid is closed.

If the lid lock is defective, the washer probably won't go into spin mode.

Check yours for the lock, where it attaches and replace it. It's probably not too expensive.

Washer won't hold water

sounds like your drain pump is bad. They are relatively cheap to repair. You can find them on . Remember to unplug all appliances before servicing. Good luck. You will need your model number to find the correct part.

Washer will not stop filling up it overflows

Very simple. No parts needed! Remove the pressure tube that connects from the water level switch down to th bottom of the tub. Blow out the trash that has accumulated in the bottom of the tub and re connect the tube to the water level switch. Drain the washer. Retry.a097efc.jpg

We have had that happen too. You will need to take out what ever has blocked the valve on the drain. Ours was a bobby pin! My model is a bit different but if you follow the drain hose underneath you can find it. Remember you are dealing with lots of water. I think I scooped out the water first and have some towels ready. Or hire somebody to do it for you. I hope that helps.

Kenmore stack washer and dryer

gabehart....sounds like belt is slipping. Replace it. The water pump is on a separate smaller motor so is not affected by the agitator/spin motor.

It sounds like you could have a couple of issues going on here. First of all, to answer the question about stacking the units; there is a mounting kit that you are supposed to use to place the dryer on top of the washer. The top is supposed to come off the washer to accomplish this. There are a couple of brackets to install and the dryer is supposed to mount to the washer with a couple of screws. Your local appliance store should be able to provide this for you. All you need is the model number of the washer and dryer. If the timer is only working on one cycle then you may have a bad timer. But...before we go jumping on that mentioned that the washer is not filling and the water just keeps running out. This sounds like a problem known as "siphoning". If you have placed your drain hose in the standpipe in a manner that does not provide an air gap for drainage, the washer will not fill and will continue to "siphon" water from the machine as it tries to fill. If the washer cannot fill, the pressure switch will not shut off, and the timer will not advance any further. Double check your drain line to make sure you do not have it shoved too far down in the standpipe (3" to 4" should be sufficient). If the drain hose is sitting in the drain trap where the water sits, there's no air gap. Also, make sure you do not have the top of the standpipe sealed for any reason. Once again, you need an air gap in order for the water to drain properly. Let me know if this helps you.

Loud spin, doesn't fill, dial doesn't move.

yes you do have to remove the top off the washer and the washer should come with a mounting kit that must be used when stacking this unit. as far as your filling and draining problem i have had this problem several times before you have to replace your speed control board or sometimes called the speed control unit in the lower right hand corner of your washer

Washer fills then drains

Daisy, check your drain hose going into the drain. It sounds like you have a siphoning problem. If the drain hose does not have a air gap the water filling will siphon right out. Check this first and post back, Catriver.
