Question about Lexmark X1150 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Lexmark X1150 When I turn on my printer, the the carrier slams back and forth with great force and then I get a carriage stall error message when trying to print.

    Tom,
    You are awesome, that was the problem. I know a little about this kind of thing but, considering the encoder was transparent I couldnt see it. Anyway the flicking thing did not work because the strip was completely out of its track and when I put it back in, LO and BEHOLD it worked. Thanks a million i really appreciate it.

If the printer carrier is slamming into the side of the printer, please try the following:

  1. Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
  2. Open the front cover of the printer where the cartridges are located.
  3. Look for two black bands that span from left to right (they should have one serrated side and one smooth side). Just above the black bands there is a transparent strip; this strip is called the Encoder strip.
  4. Flick this strip lightly with your finger to make sure that it is running smoothly from left to right. You may need to do this two or three times. CAUTION: Do not pull the strip!
  5. Close the front cover of the printer and reconnect the power supply.
  6. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Lexmark Technical Support.

Lexmark x83 carrier stall


Hello there.

I have checked lexmark's website on troubleshooting this problem for you.

As per the link here we need to try the following steps to resolve the problem.

If the printer carrier is slamming into the side of the printer, please try the following:
  1. Disconnect the power supply from the back of the printer.
  2. Open the front cover of the printer where the cartridges are located.
  3. Look for two black bands that span from left to right (they should have one serrated side and one smooth side). Just above the black bands there is a transparent strip; this strip is called the Encoder strip.
  4. Flick this strip lightly with your finger to make sure that it is running smoothly from left to right. You may need to do this two or three times. CAUTION: Do not pull the strip!

  6. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Lexmark Technical Support.

After replaceing an ink cartriage every time I turn the printer the ink tray slams to one side then all the way back I gert an error message to start it again and slam bam. I hope you can help.


The encoder strip may have come out of the sensor slot. Turn off power, slide cartridge carrier to center, place finger on each side of encoder strip which runs behind the carriage and push the encoder strip down and back up, slightly back and forward if necessary to get it into the sensor slot which is located behind carrier. If it is in slot, sliding the cartridge carrier back and forth to see if therre is movement. If so repeat.

Dell 922 print carrier stall error message. Also, error 1200.

Error code: 1200
This error code is commonly associated with the Dell 922 printer. Usually you might see the cartridge moving front and back and slamming itself against the printer. You need to tighten the strings located on the back of the printer and then it should work fine

Clean the carriage rail. This is the round chrome piece that the carriage assy that holds the cartridges rides on. Use a paper towel that is slightly moist.
Be sure to not force anything. Unplug the printer after you get the carts in the middle. Move them to one side and clean and then move them to the other and repeat.


Lift up the scanner to reveal the cartridge compartment; under the chrome rod on which the cartridges run there are two small gaps about 8cm apart. In the right one should sit the paper sensor which is a small black rod that hooks downwards; the problem I had was my sensor had bent up and out of the gap so all I had to do was bend it gently back into position using a small screwdriver.

Clear carrier jam is error message


Not that difficult check if behind the carriage(part holding cartridges) has broken off.Its a small plastic latch about 3 inches in length.
If not then try moving the carriage manually with your hand and see if it moves if it doesn't press and hold the power button and while holding the buttons unplug and re-plug the power cable to the printer .Clean the carriage rod with alcohol on a cotton swab/lint free cloth and then see if the problem surfaces if it does then its time to get a new printer

Please do the following..

To check the cartridge carrier:
  1. Unplug the printer.
  2. Move the cartridges to the left by hand and then take them out.
  3. Try to print without the cartridges in the carrier. Do you still receive a Carrier Stall error message?
  4. If not, put the cartridges back into the carrier and snap them in at the back. The message should no longer appear.
If the power light on the printer is not blinking, the error message may be caused by a communication error. Do the following:
  1. Remove any other devices attached to the USB/LPT port.
  2. Uninstall the Lexmark printer.
  3. Connect the printer directly to the PC and ensure that power is being supplied to the printer.
  4. Reinstall the printer.

Dell 922 printer giving error code 1200


I get error 1200 and print carrier stall.  The carrier moves fine when I turn it on, in fact it slams to the right!  Will not print at all!
