Warmest would be nearest the off position, probably 0. Is the compressor motor cycling on and off or running all the time. If it's running check to see if the evaporator coils inside the freezer behind the back cover are ice up blocking the flow of air. A light frosting is normal. If it's iced up you have a defrost probelm.
How to check everything

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control

My freezer keeps already frozen food frozen but wont freeze fresh food

You need to put it at the top of the freezer in an upright freezer which is usually where the circulation fan is. With chest freezers you put them in the bottom. You may be able to make the freezer colder by turning the thermostat dial to a higher number. The higher the number the colder the compartment will be.

Get yourself a cheep fridge and freezer thermometer from Walmart. They have a green section where the red line should be. The freezer should be minus 18'C or 0'F.

Refrigerator freezes food in back

You can always turn down the intensity of the chiller. There should be a dial on the roof of the fridge part, the higher the number, the colder it will get. There's usually a small vent from the freezer to the fridge, and it's generally in the back of the fridge. Plus it stays colder there than in the door or front of the fridge.

The fridge doesnt seem to be cold enough not sure which way to turn the dial no indication as to which way to turn. No instruction manual to refer to.

Make sure the freezer dial is in the middle (12 O'clock) position if it has one
If it is turned too far towards the right it will cut off all air flow to the refrigerator
compartment, the air flow from the freezer cools the lower compartment. Also make sure
the fan is running, if it has failed then the freezer will freeze up and block all air flow.

The refrigerator compartment has a cold control as well, it is normally turned toward
the right to make it colder or if it has numbers, set to 5 or above.

I recommend setting the refrigerator to 36 to 39 degrees (just above freezing). using a
thermometer (stick type set in a cup of water overnight to get an accurate reading).
It is the preferred method, and will help in this instance since the numbers aren't legible.
Hope this helps.

Refrigerator less than two months old. Freezer side fine refrigerator side stopped working altogether. All food ruined. Who should I contact. purchased from Home Depot.

This is a very common issue, If the freezer compartment is cold and making ice the
problem is simply airflow from the freezer into the refrigerated section.
Typically when one senses the refrigerator is warm they max out the settings
on both dials the thermostat with its 1-10 settings as well as off for the compressor.
This controls the compressor and temperature.
The additional setting or dial is for colder freezer or refrigerator as well , However
it simply opens or closes a flapper door between the freezer and refrigerator boxes.
When that dial or setting is maxed , it closes and makes the freezer colder, yet leaves the refrigerated section starved for sufficient airflow to maintain a cold box in the refrigerated section.
Just set the dial that does not turn the compressor off to the middle setting.
One can leave the thermostat that does control the compressor in the max setting , just not the colder freezer setting, If you notice colder isnt colder refrigerator, Its actually colder freezer, A common issue found on 25% of all refrigerator calls a simple setting adjustment.
Its easy to think that maxing out the settings makes for a colder refrigerator, it doesnt, it makes a colder freezer and warm rerigeration section.
If a freezer is making ice, theres nothing wrong with the unit other than airflow setting.

Yes, it is a temperature control. You will want to turn the dial back to about the center position and then go higher or lower from there. All the way to the right will probably make the freezer try to be colder than you need and ice cream may be impossible to dip for instance. Also if you are running colder than you need to be the freezer will use much more energy. If you have a thermometer that you can stick in there go for around 0 degrees F

You should have 2 dials one is the thermostat when you set it all the way one direction it will shut you refrigerator off. Turn it back to about the middle if there are no numbers. The other dial is the air damper between the freezer and the refrigerator. The fan circulates the air through refrigerator by this damper. If you open this open to much your food in the refrigeration section will freeze. Close it back to about 2 that will give you a colder freezer and should be about right for the refrigeration section.

Temperature control

I have a danby mini fridge and freezer and noticed the same problem. The temperature dial has NO NUMBERS ON IT! it just has a strip that goes from light to dark blue. That's it. I looked in the manual and it doesn't say anywhere which way is colder...it makes sense that the darker the blue the colder the temperature but why keep us guessing?
