Question about E-Machines Bestec ATX-300-12E Rev. D 300w E-Machine GTW Power Supply Part 100929 (ATX30012E) Power Supply

1 Answer

HP Pavillion won't turn on.

I just upgraded my video card and cleaned years of dust from the inside of the case while it was open. Now it will not turn on. Tested power cord and the green light is flashing on the ATX-300-12Z power supply. Sprayed compressed air on the power supply during cleaning.

I got nothing when I tried to turn it on after installing the card. No fan movement, nothing and the green light on the PS is flashing. As if it wasn't plugged in, except for the flashing light on the pwer supply. Tested power cord on another PC and it worked fine. I am putting in a larger PS as we speak... 300 being replaced with a new 450.

Hmm, did the CA damage any part of it? Sounds silly I know.
And is the power in the, Optical Disk Drive, HDD, Graphics Card and of course on the Motherboard?
Keep it on for about 40 minutes monitoring the heat ever so often even though there is nothing on the Monitor.
By the 40 Minutes it should be mid temp - Hot.
Best of Luck. Tom.

My HP Pavillion dv9000 laptop computer is 3 years old. All seems good until I stream video and it struggles to play the video cleanly. The internet connection is fine and when using other computers it...

No, there aren't any settings that can change graphic resolution on streaming video. However, you can visit the following website to update your drivers for your video card:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
There are two options on the website; option 1 is to fill in the info of your graphics card, and option 2 allows the nVidia website to scan your computer's hardware to find any updates needed. Option 2 is probably the safer route. Continue to follow the instructions until you have updated your graphics card drivers. This should enhance streaming video resolution.

I have a hp m820n and it crashes or won't start and has a long beep then a short beep i am wanting to know if that is the motherboard that is crashed

Hi.

This could be one of 2 problems.

1, there is a system memory problem. Open the case and carefully clean the inside of dust. Next, remove the memory modules and clean the slots with a soft, dry paintbrush, also clean the brass contacts that run all the way down one side of the memory.
The memory modules look like this >>>>>

2, there could also be a problem with the graphics (video) card. Take it out and clean the contacts and the slots.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

I have a hp pavilion a177c desktop. i opened the case to replace the SATA harddrive and SATA dvd rom and cmos battery. also cleaned out all the dust i could see(which was almost none). after hooking...

You don't say how you cleaned the motherboard. It only takes a small knock or static spark to kill electronics. PCI and I/O control is done by a chip on the motherboard and if this is fried you will need a new motherboard. The only way to check is with specialist hardware. take it to a computer repair specialist ( not PC world- too expensive) the cmos battery shouldn't have needed replacement after a maximum of 5 years. I have batteries that have lasted over 20 years. incidentally if you have replaced the cmos battery you would have to setup the bios again anyway.

How do I open up my HP Pavillion zd800 case. I want to clean out the dust.

You don't need to open it up!

Turn the computer off.
Remove the battery.
Buy a can of compressed air, and give your computer a "blow-job" through every vent that you can find.

Follow the instructions on the can -- keep the can "vertical" while using it.

My sony laptop computer has big noise when the fan start.

Hi there,

It is normal for the computer to do this. When an application you are running makes greater use of the CPU, memory, video card, and disk drives, power consumption increases, and the fan either kicks up in speed or turns on. If the sound is annoying, you may be able to reduce the fan cycles by cleaning the dust out of the computer case.

Get a can or two of Dust-Air or a similar product.

dustair.jpg
Open the case of your computer by removing the screws on the back. Some computer cases have easy-open latches, so you may not need tools. Use a vacuum cleaner to get the bigger dust bunnies out of the case, then use the Dust-air to blow out all of the nooks and crannies. Make sure to blow out the heat sink for the CPU; the vanes tend to clog with dust. Blow off the vanes of all the cooling fans, too. There will be one on the CPU, and probably a few others, e.g., most video cards have their own fans and heat sinks now.

Replacing the case fan with a quieter model, such as a Vantec, can also help:

Computer makers build systems with the cheapest parts they can get their hands on, and if you're handy, it's worthwhile upgrading.
