F11 error persists after powering down and back up. Model 79047783403. Does the EOC need to be replaced and can I do this myself?

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

The error code generally indicates either you have a bad oven thermocouple or the EOC is bad.

First, remove the thermocouple through the back.

With a multi-meter set the meter to the lowest Ohms. Insert the two probes into the two contactors. You should get a reading between 1000 - 1100 Ohms if it is good.

If this is good then you have a bad EOC board.

25656710-5ds3gtdzu2lsmxhybqelrkoe-4-2.jpg Part #: 316418554 Cost: $190.00
When replacing make sure you ground yourself by rubbing your hands on bare metal. Static electricity will knock out a control board.

The part cost is based on Sears cost. Search the internet for the part numbers, you can get these parts for less.

I am 99% positive you need a new EOC based on the fact that you said you heard the all too common pop noise. EOCs usually cost around $200-$300 and sometimes more. The EOC in this is the same as your clock, if you took off the top back you will see burn marks on the back of the clock.

How can we turn off oven cooling fan after use> It runs forever after use and oven is at room temp but fan keeps going

The cooling fan is controlled by the EOC and a temperature sensor located at the top of the oven near the control panel. If the temperature is above a 100 degrees there the cooling fan will continue to run. If it does not turn off when the temperature goes below this, there is a problem with either the EOC or temperature sensor. Try turning off the power to your oven for at least an hour to reset the EOC, this may fix the problem.
Regarding the shelves being 1/4 short, this is actually caused by your oven liner expanding not your shelves shrinking. The only fix for this is to have your oven liner replaced.
Both of these repairs are very expensive ( > $300) and may not be worth fixing.

F1 on screen

F1 means the control (EOC) has failed. Try leaving the power off to the range for as long as possible (overnight). If the problem persists the EOC would need to be replaced. This part can cost over $300.

We are geting a F 11 code on this Model number plgfmz96ecc

Your F11 error code is displayed below. It would be best to have the unit serviced by a professional for this type of fix as if not performed properly, the fix could end up costing over $500.00.

Shorted Keypad.

1. (F11, 12 & 13) Disconnect power, wait 30 seconds and reapply power.
2. (F11, 12 & 13) If fault returns upon power-up, replace EOC.

Have a whirlpool gold black oven and nothing works on the electronic oven control panel but the burners on top work. what could be the problem? thanks, dan

Hello Dan. You most likely need a new EOC (oven control) / clock. These are often expensive but fairly easy to change. If you do decide to try to replace it BE SURE that it is unplugged or the breaker is off. Usually if you pull the range out from the wall (be careful of scratching your floors, put cardboard under the front legs) you can access the EOC from the back of the control panel. There should be a cover over the back of the control with a lot of screws, remove as many as you need to have access to the EOC. It should be evident how to remove the EOC once you see it, often just 4 screws. Have the new one on hand and just be careful when removing wires and make a little diagram if you need to help you remember where they go on the new unit. One thing to consider once you get the cost of the EOC/Clock take a look at the cost of a new range. Sometimes these parts are half the cost of a new range. Hope this helps, best regards.

Stove replacement?

All the fault codes I could find on Roper indicates that this is an Electronic Oven Control (EOC) failure. This is your clock assembly. carries the part for about $47. I think for that price, it may be worth the attempt to repair the range, vice replacing one at a cost of hundreds of dollars. Just type in your model number and you can locate the clock assembly under the "Backguard Section" heading as item number 17 (part number WB27M10). I hope this helps you.

It's a bad capacitor on the clock/display board. The solution was posted elsewhere in FixYa. I had the same problem and was told I should replace the clock/display board, which would solve the problem, but costs about $150 plus labor. If you can desolder/solder small components on an electronic circuit board, you can fix this yourself. Mine was capacitor C3, originally a 68uF 35V component. I replaced it with a 68uF 63V as the closest one I could find at which was less than a $1. Lo and behold, my clock/display is back to normal! Saved a lot of money to fix it myself and I know it will happen again over time, so I know exactly what to do next time.
