SOURCE: mower quits when engaging mower deck of husqvarna yth 2348

Try putting a jumper wire on the wire going from the engine to the seat. Take that plug and put a wire from one side to the other. Be careful not to cut your feet off when engaging deck.

SOURCE: Sears 42" riding lawn mower. All of the interlock

I have seen situations where the lever which is supposed to make the safety switch was not lined up properly to make the switch totally. I've had to actually bend the metal to make it work. I would try manually making the switches involved one at a time.

SOURCE: i need a wireing diagram

Your mower is manufacturered by John Deere if you did not know so the schematic will be the same. Thet are sold only through John Deere franchises. None are available on the web as far as I know. I have been looking for years of many models to complete my collection.

Also here is an owners manual in case you need it too

Craftman 18 hp won't start with key

Check Battery. If headlight equipped turn key to headlight on position and see if headlights are lit. No light dead battery dead tractor,

Charge battery. If after charging weak or no start forget the battery and get new, Life of battery is two to three years,

If battery good make sure that parking brake set and blades are not engaged. Safety lockout will prevent tractor from cranking. The tracker has a safety interlock on the seat that requires a body warm or cold sitting on the seat if the parking brake is not set. The seat switch is known to fail. Try bouncing on the seat?

OK if battery OK and seat is sat or park brake set we can assume the safety interlock circuit is disabling the start circuit.

I have mdl#917.270781, motor stops when try to engage mower blades. Removed deck and it still stood when you lift engaging lever.. I replaced interlock switch 153664, but did not help.

I don't your problem is the PTO switch but is either a bad operator seat switch or loose connection. The operator seat switch connector has a built-in shorting strip that engages when the connector is loose or unplugged.

Craftsman riding mower Model 917.270824

I do not believe there is a manual available to the public for troubleshooting, however, you have at least 3 switches to tell the mower to stop when blades are engaged or clutch pedal released.

Seat switch
pedal switch
mower engage switch

The pedal and mower lever switches are identical, and have two sides, one for starting, one for blades turning. One side can fail. The pedal switch is on the frame very close to the pivot point of the pedal/shaft. The mower switch will be under the dash close to the bottom of the lever.

1) Locate and inspect the switches for broken or pinch wires, switch housing, or loose mounting, and how each lever or pedal engages the swtich.

2) This is a picture of the wiring so that you can get a better idea of location.

CRAFTMAN 20 HP WILL NOT START. I CAN JUMP THE STARTER SELENOID AND IT WILL TURN OVER BUT NO FIRE.

I think one of the dafety switches is shut and is shorting out the circuit. There are usually 4 of them. one under the seat, one on the clutch pedal, one on the blade engagement lever and one on the gearshift which must be in neutral

Mower starts, but when I let off clutch, it dies.

Grass and debris clogg the switch mechinisms, safety interlocks are sometimes a pain to diagnose but I would first look at the seat interlock, the petal switch and ffinally then the mowing deck.
