Question about HP Officejet J4680 InkJet Printer

HP Officejet J4550- "Print Cartridge Problem"

My printer will not print. In fact, across the screen it reads, "Print Cartridge Problem: At least one of the cartridges has a problem" I have changed out both cartridges and still this is the case. It printed fine last week and when I came into the office today, it is now reading this. Estimated ink values will not calculate so it seems to be in limbo and not able to read the remaining amounts. I've cleaned both copper ink heads on the ink cartridges. I have also unplugged the printer completely from the computer and outlet. Please help!!

perhaps the worst thing about HP is that they do not even mention the chip timeouts in their troubleshooting instructions.

remove the cartridge and check that you have removed the tape across the print head
insert and press black button on the printer or next on the printer screen it should go to print test page which you then have to photo copy back into the printer so that it can realign the printer head .

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.

Wipe the cartridge using cotton.Clean also the wiper inside.

HP Officejet J4550 All -in-one printer has print cartridge error


To answer the Apr 4th guy, what i did was shake the cartridge. You know how when you were a kid and a gameboy game didn't work and you had to blow inside of the machine. Its kind of like that.

Printer reads out "Print Cartridge problem (Tri Color) Refer to device documentation to trouble shoot" I purchased this HP Officejet J4550 All-in-one unit new and haven't made any color pictures with it....


I discovered on mine, exact same problem, I opened the tray, removed the cartridge, and forced it back in hard and fast. It didn't work the first 12 times but after that, it got a solid connection and it worked. Works fine now. Anyway that's the problem and the problem isn't the cartridge (genuine hp cart here). The problem is on the printer side, the pins that hit the cartridge. Anyway get rough with it, slam it in and out, close the tray, if it doesn't work within 5 seconds, open the tray and do it again. It WILL work.
