Unable to change channels on emerson flat screen despite new remote and new batteries. Saw description of removing housing and dusting off sensor

try cleaning the pickup sensor on the front of your tv might be just dust stopping it the same as the front of your remote.
or change your batteries in your remote.

I/r sensor gone bad or need to clean in side of TV cabinet. Check if sensor window is not dirty.

your tv have problems with shock. try to check some lcd controller cables and tighten screws on lcd housing

Your TV is still in the factory test mode. To remove from the tech service mode try this.To exit the service mode, grab the original remote. Press the cursor left followed by the cursor right button. Now press the off button on the remote or on the TV itself. Hope this helps. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

I just called Dynex because I had the same problem. Remove the batteries and press the power button and hold it down for 15-20 seconds, put the batteries back in and try to power on and power off, change channels, etc... if so the remote is fine. The guy told me that sometimes when you need to replace the batteries you also have to re-set the remote control.

you cannot enter into menu on most universal remote only on off switch,channel change and volume up and down thats the most you can get out of a universal remote.you will need the originald remote.

With many of these TV sets the original factory remote is required to change the input mode of the set, or to access any of the user menus.

On some models of sets, putting the channel selection down to below channel 2, puts the TV in to the external input modes.
