Question about HP Pavilion dv2000t Notebook

1 Answer

No Boot Up Too

I took my HP dv2000 to Best Buy and I was told it was the mother board. I just found out about the recall. So I will contact HP this evening. But it is so interesting that this many laptops stop working around the same time....mid-February 2009 to now...just a few months past the warranty. And for what I paid for it, it should work much longer than it did. Did anyone send a complaint to HP?

Thanks John for the advise. HP told me my model's serial number was NOT one on the list. Even though I am having the same symptons as others, because my serial number was not on the list they are not going to fix the problem. Any other suggestions would be helpful. I only had the laptop 18 months before the problem started.

Sorry to hear about your HP problems with your DV2000
If you go to HP.COM and check the recalls and extended warranty.
I some cases HP offers an additional 1 year from date of warranty expiration. or 2 years from date of purchase.
If your unit has lost video, shuts down, won't startup.. Review, these areas under your model...
Note.......
Do not call HP if possible until you have found the needed information on your machine.

1. After you have your information,
(A) copy it, (B) call on it. (C) Register your problem with HP and get a Trouble ticket on file.
If HP is going to warranty to repair, they will issue you a New warrant for the New Repair, from the date of the New repair.
Don’t waist time, one day can make the difference...
Hope this information has been of help to you...
John Ray
P.S. Please check your LapTop battery’s for possible recalls.

Sorry I have taken so long to return your mail request.

Yes, I do have a answer for you, Email customer care and insist upon speaking to a customer care manager or case manager.

Tell them that your unit is within their extended warranty program and to have someone contact you in writing.

A answer over the phone, holds no water to a written email from a rep.

If this unit was purchased within the last 2 years, you will have the unit repaired under warranty.

My Compaq V2000 beeps twice & freezes

It sounds like the RAM is either not compatable or is bad. Put the old RAM back in and try again. Also the V2000 and HP DV2000 is in recall for mother board problems.

Got a HP DV2000 boot then freezes

Hi,
It seems that the problem is with the display chipset ( assuming its with Nvidia chipset model).
If you are not a technical person, take out the mother board and do a reflow of the chipset with a blower or else take it to a qualified service person or authorised service center.

Same problem with hp dv9000 recall

This is why you get an extended warranty. I never count on the manufacturer of...well, anything to cover me out of warranty. HP's website is full of this information and your warranty info is there too. Plus, take a look at the service tag on the bottom, 1 year warranty stated clearly. Never a recall, a fix on failure that was only covered for a limited time.

I have an HP dv2000 notebook with a fried video chip & mother board (pn# 440777-001). i want to know if any of the other mother boards can be used to replace it such as 440778-001 or any of the other intel...

The best thing to do for that particular model is to call HP tech support..........
They have extended the warranty.....but that too has expired...but that model is a such a lemon that HP has replaced most out of warranty boards.
I think there is only one other board that will fit in that case.....but I dont remember the model.
If you search deep on the net you can find that info.....
I just sent one back and HP was helpful.......but it depends mostly on the warranty date.

Faulty motherboard

You should be able to find an HP service provider in your area either by looking in the phonebook or by calling HP directly. You may even be able to order the part directly from HP. You will have to pay for it, however, and if you choose not to do the work yourself, will also be billed for the labor.

HP laptop model dv2000 will turn on, but nothing comes on the screen.

Video card dead, sorry to say. They are part of the system board so are not replaceable. Common problem with HP Pavs. Replace the machine with either a new Toshiba or more expensive Dell range or buy a laptop 3 or4 years old as the build quality was so much better

Hp pavilion dv2000 notebook will not boot up

hi,
i m in Hong Kong. The stupid HP repair center charged US 90 just for inspection!!!!! They they said the whole motherboard had to be replaced, thts additional US 630 dollars, the thing is just 1.5 yr old. They also said i don get to keep the broken mother board after replacement. This is simply irresponsible, unethical, sleazy and UNJUST!!

Thanks. right now the computer is fixed for US70. when i hv time, i'll open it up and see if i can figure it out how it was fixed. The shop suggested tht the computer wont last too long. This is such bad quality for HP... Sorry, i hv to do the following for other victims to find this easily:
(can some creative netizen bring this to the public light to pressure HP to do the ethical things??)

MY HP NOTEBOOK MODEL: DV9205US REBOOT FOR ONLY 5 SEC

Had the same problems with my dv9205us in Feb 2008. Called HP and gave them the model and serial #s. There is a recall on certain models due to motherboard issues. The Fed-Exed a box with a return shipping label. Had the notebook back within a week at most with no cost to me at all. Give HP a call to see if you fall under the recall.
