Are you able to switch the controls to dispense water? I see three possibilities that could be happening. The cup dispenser switch, the dispenser control board or a relay on the motherboard is stuck closed. MSD2274VEM00 Parts

Appliance 911 Sea Breeze

Testimonial: "I am able to dispense water still and do everything else on the control panel with no problem just the ice auger is the problem. I would unplug motor for awhile and plug back in would not run till I dispensed ice then would stay on again. Now when I do the same thing it comes on right away and stays on."

I have a Maytag MSD 2352 side by side with a ice bucket problem. The back of the auger will accumulate snow and ice until the auger freezes and won't turn any more..I noticed at the back of the bucket...

The crack in the sliding track of your Maytag MSD 2352 ice bucket may be a contributing factor to the ice build up and auger freezing issue. The crack could be allowing moisture to enter and freeze, causing the build up. It is recommended to have the crack repaired or the sliding track replaced to help prevent the ice build up and auger freezing. If you are not comfortable with this repair, it is best to contact a professional technician for assistance.

Why does my ice auger want to keep spinning and wont stop when you pull the cord it turns the auger

Pulling the cord will only start the engine. Your problem is with the centrifugal clutch. Check the clutch for broken springs. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Whirlpool side by side ice storage bin will not go back into place due to the auger

I had this exact same problem. After a difficult removal of the ice bucket (admittedly a lot of yanking against frozen ice cubes before I decided to chisel them out from above), I could no longer seat the ice bucket back onto the hexagonal auger drive shaft. When activating the ice dispenser, I could hear the motor turning, but the auger shaft itself would not rotate. The cause was that the auger shaft had moved upward through its stop grommet during all of the yanking to remove the ice bucket.

Take off the two hex screws holding the top plate around the auger shaft. The shaft is then easily removable and you can inspect it for slippage against the stop grommet. In the attached photo, you can see there is about 1/2 inch of clean auger shaft visible above the grommet, where the shaft has slid upward relative to the grommet. If this is the case, the fix is simple. Turn the shaft upside down and lightly tap the grommet around the edges with a small hammer until it moves back into place. Upon replacing the auger shaft, you can feel it seat back into the drive motor adapter.

Ice maker makes ice but can't dispense ice

Please try this. Remove your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly which is where the Auger (corkscrew) is located. You should be able to see the Auger Motor Drive Fork which is located permanently inside the freezer compartment... opposite the end of the Removable Ice Bucket Assembly that you just took out. Close the freezer door and attempt to dispense ice... if you can hear the Auger Motor running as you attempt to dispense ice... then the Auger Motor is OK. Dump out all the ice that is in your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly and wash it out in your kitchen sink with warm water. Reach into your freezer and put your hand on the Auger Motor Drive Fork ... you should be able to rotate it CW or CCW...it is a little hard to turn but it will turn. Position the Auger Motor Fork to a 12:00 and 6:00 o'clock position. Now take your Removable Ice Bucket Assembly and position its Receiver Auger Fork to a 9:00 and 3:00 o'clock ....Re install the Removable Ice Bucket Assembly into the Auger Drive Fork. Close the freezer door and again attempt operate the ice dispenser... you should hear the Auger Motor again run as you press the ice dispenser. Note....at this same time the Ice Chute Door in the Freezer Door should spring open so that ice can fall out. Of course you have no ice in the Auger at this time...but it all this works then future production of ice will fall out. Note...Usually the Auger Motor never fails. but the whole thing can get jammed with ice and not dispense. Also, the the solenoid that operates the Ice Chute Door fails quite frequently. Last but not least... if nothing is happening... it is a control board type problem. Hopes this helps! Handy Henry

Ice comes always comes out crushed

The door that directs the ice cubes away from the crusher is not moving. You probably have a bad solenoid. It is easy to replace. After removing the ice drawer, take out the two phillips head screws that hold the back section in place. This section has a plastic shaft sticking out that powers the ice auger, plus the actuater for the cube/crushed door. Make sure you unlug the power at the wall by this point. Now unplug the nine pin electrical connector that connects this unit to the back plug in the freezer. Remove the whole assembly and you will see the light bulb, the auger motor and the bad solenoid assembly. The center core of the solenoid should slide up and down freely. I usually find them jammed. Order the part online, or from a local distributer. $20 or so. The correct part number is probably 241675801, but could be different. Check your specific model at www.frigidaire.com/service. Parts manuals can be accessed there.
