Low volume after refitting belt on Technics SL-BS22B turnrable

Hi,

I have just refitted the belt on my turntable that worked its way loose when I moved house. Now I can only hear volume at about quarter volume through the left speaker with nothing through the right speaker. I've checked the connections from turntable to amp and they seem ok. Full volume from all other units connected to amp.
Any advice appreciated.

Mike

Check also the wire connections on the pickup head, don't forget to check the connections for the same wires inside the turntable, see if you have a bad solder contact to the output terminals, also check the terminals themselves for any dirt/oxydation (i assume they are RCA's, and they DO loose contact if you plug them in and out a lot). Also check RCA's at the amp end.

good luck

Why is the right side of my Technics turntable dropping out and giving me a ground hum?

It sounds like a bad connection to the cartridge, perhaps even the cartridge itself.

The low grinding noise could be the motor spinning with "no load" i.e the belt has snapped or fallen off due to being perished.
Lift the platter to refit the belt and or replace it if required.

Hi, could just be platter not fitted hard down on spindle. I suggest you remove the platter and place it upon a dead flat surface to check to see that the platter is flat. If it is flat refit to turntable ensuring it is hard down on the spindle. If bent discard and replace with new platter.Platters can be ordered for all model 1200/1210 from [email protected]

Technics SD-L3 TURNTABLE

Does your receiver have a dedicated phono input? If not you'll need to use a preamp between the turntable and receiver. Your other turntable may have a preamp built in and the Technics not.

If this does not help, please post the brand and model of both your receiver and your other turntable.
