Question about Ryobi ZRRY46501 Factory-Reconditioned 12 Amp 3.42 HP Electric Tiller Cultiv

1 Answer

Tines do not rotate with any power

Stored my cultivator for the winter and now it won't till anything but air. The tines spin slowly when not in soil, but placed in soil (even loose soil) it simply will not spin. There is no debris buildup, help!

My mtd yard machine bogs down in the tilled /cultivated dirt. the belly support is only less than 2 inches to the bottom of the tires! when I till the next row the tires just turn freely and I have to...

Sounds like a depth adjustment or a leverage problem.
Check your manual to see if you are able to lower the tines to a deeper position.
There usually is also a handle adjustment to raise the handle to get more leverage. (Not all Models) By pulling back on the handle it forces the tines into the soil and raises the tires. This allows the tines to agitate and do the work while at the same time walking the machine forward. When you push up on the handle the rubber tires provide traction and forward movement and less digging on the tines.
Method: Possibly by allowing a little space between passes your wheels won't hang up in the previous dead furrow. You can then go back over the skipped spaces or cultivate from the other direction and a criss cross pattern.
Best wishes,
TF

Tines rotate slow when I try to till.

The clutch is non adjustable if the clutch fails you will have drive all the time or it slips. if the tines spin at the same speed with the engine at low and high speed the clutch might be slipping, the common cause for this is the gear box is partly siezed due to no grease being pumped into it, most ppl dont even know about this untill its too late. you have to remove the LH side tines to get to the screw.

Tines rotate until lowered into ground.

You need to adjust the belt tensioner so that there is enough tension on the belts under contact with the earth to till the soil.

Crt or srt tiller?

* CRT or SRT -- These are two terms you will see on rear-tine tillers only. o Counter Rotating Tines are best for heavier duty jobs and for breaking new ground. o Standard Rotating Tines are good for aerating the soil and help propel the tiller forward.
