My Sony Vaio VGN FS810/w is having problems starting. I press the power button and the lights come on and you can hear the humming and the running of the laptop but it will not show it on the screen. Sometimes there will be a Intel screen that will come up and will share information about the intel prossessor and then the screen will not do anything else. I was told maybe that it had something to do with the power supply into the laptop but I don't know....

Perform power cycle. Disconnect all power sources, battery and power cord. Press power button for 5 secs. Reconnect power and start unit again. Do you see VAIO? Do you enter BIOS by holding F2 as soon as you press power button? If not then its probably hardware related, i mean needs service. Otherwise if you see any of what i mentioned above try turning off and then on and pressing F8 for safe mode or repair your computer options and then try system restore from accessories menu or F10 for full recovery with data loss (Restore C drive)
Motherboard is faulty. You can try removing the hard drive and dvd drive to make sure those aren't shorting out the motherboard. You can also try each memory stick to make sure neither one is shorting out the motherboard.
