Suction is fine on the hose tools but none with the carpet sweeper. The roller brush is turning fine.

i dunno....can you switch between the hose and floor vac?
My hose works great....but i don't get any other suction! I lost the manual....and wonder if it's simply a matter of turning the hose off!

Did you check to see if brush is spinning ,
is belt broken? It could be something stuck
in the mechanism in the impeller, shute, etc

I just pick this one up from a garage sale and it had the exact same problem. No the belt is fine. There didn't seem to be anything stuck in suction tube path. I did find that the carpet height selector was on its highest setting. When I adjusted it down to a lower level the suction and cleaning ability greatly improved. I am going to try this for a while. It would be nice if this is the solution to the whole problem.

I have the same problem. There are absolutely no clogs. Virtually sanitized the entire machine. Hose suctions remains as it were when it was new, but the spinning floor brush only moves the dirty around. Awaiting a solution for a vacuum that only sucks at vacuuming up the dirt.

No suction on floor or carpet.

Suction through the hose is great but there is nothing at the floor. No clogs, brushes are spinning. Every thing is in good working condition except for the fact that the suction stops between the hose and the brushes. I have even ran a coat hanger through the hose to make sure its clear. I'm dumbfounded.

I changed the dust bag , and cleaned the brizels of roller underneath and removed the two small wheels also even the suction is poor on carpet. Why?

Comment by raine1932, posted on Dec 19, 2007

It's as if something has reversed, and the hose has some suction but the carpet airflow seems reversed - the air is blowing out instead of there being suction.

Have a Hoover Z. It was working fine until I accidently sucked up the lace of my husbands worrk boot. Pulled it out but since then have no suction through the floor brush but normal suction with hose. I have done everything the user manual suggests but brush still spits everything out. Any help would be great

When I switch to "carpet" or "floor" mode, the brushes turn on, but no suction from the base. Instead, suction continues to pull through the hose for the tool attachment? Shouldn't the "carpet" and "floor" modes cause the suction to stop through the tool hose and instead turn on the suction at the base?

I've put a new belt on. I've cut off string and hair that collected around the roller. I've emptied the canister. Why is the suction so poor. I have a Dirt Devil Swivel upstairs and it works fantastic. Do you think it is because the Swivel uses a bag and the Vision is bagless?
