This is how to do it guys:
1) First trigger the hold button to on and then turn it off, (its were it doesn't show the orange part.
2) Then hold the Menu, and Center buttons for 6-10 seconds.
You will know when something happens, the Apple Icon will appear on the front.
What you are doing is restarting the Ipod.

Hope it works guys!

SOURCE: 30 gb ipod not connecting to computer.

If nobody has figured out this problem or if anybody else is having the same problem I have a solution that could possibly work. I had the same problem so I right clicked My Computer and went to Properties. Click on the Hardware tab, and then click on Device Manager. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers look for anything that may have a yellow exclamation point. Mine said something like Apple Ipod Driver or something along those lines. Right click that and click Update Driver... Then click Next and it should update it for you and work fine. Hopefully this will help anybody that is having this problem.

SOURCE: 8 GB Ipod Nano went dead and now won't charge

Try resetting into disk mode by holding down "MENU" and the centre round button for a couple of seconds at the same time, let it charge for a couple of minutes - important, eject it from your hard drive first, quit all applications that work with your iPod, then press the "MENU" and round button at the same time again press the play button - it should go to a grey screen with a apple on it - re-atach your iPod to the machine again - it should now look like its charging, and should launch iTunes again giving you full functionality to your iPod again - let it fully recharge before unplugging.

We just purchased a 8g nano ipod. Why does it shut itself off after about 1 minute while we are either listening to the radio or the songs that we downloaded? No one seems to know.

Ensure that your iPod is fully charged first. Another reason your ipod could be shutting off is that your headphones are not properly seated. I f music stops playing when the screen goes dim, it is because the nano does not detect the headset. Remove and then firmly re-insert your headphones.
1. Failing that, your first fix would be to set your Nano for a sync, then restore it. This will automatically restore the Nano to its original settings.

2. If this doesn't work, run an update the same way you did for the 1.1 update. If the original update went wrong, this should rectify the situation. Don't end the sync until the onscreen directions tell you.

3. If you are still having problems, it might be good to visit your Apple Store, if you have one nearby. Document the issue clearly, so the tech can determine if it's a software or hardware problem.

If you mean to say that when you touch it it lights up and after a minute it dimms down, it means you have to set your backlight longer: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA26501?viewlocale=en_US

Unable to unlock the ipod nano 8 gb

This support document also provides additional information on locking and unlocking the iPod. According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the iPod by doing the following:
Connect your iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked. If you can't unlock iPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod. If you want to change the primary computer that your iPod is associated with, do this: 1. Restore your iPod. Warning: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data. 2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer. 3. Open iTunes and synchronize. Apple also notes that company "representatives cannot unlock an iPod if you forget your combination. If you can't unlock your iPod and you don't have access to the primary computer, your only option is to restore the iPod, which will erase all music and data."

Memory loss on ipod

The ipod nanos the smallest product in the Apple iPod line. The fourth generation Nano comes in two different capacities, each capable of holding thousands of songs.
    Capacities
  1. The fourth generation iPod Nano comes in 8 GB and 16 GB models. The 8 GB version can hold 2,000 songs, and the 16 GB version can hold 4,000 songs.
  2. Tips
  3. Song capacity estimates are based on music encoded in Apple's proprietary format at a standard, average bitrate. The higher the bitrate, the better the quality. Songs deviating from Apple's standard (for example, CD-quality music or high bitrate MP3s) will use more disk space.
  4. History
  5. Nano's predecessor, the iPod Mini, was released on January 6, 2004, and was available with a 4 GB hard drive. The Nano was first released on September 7, 2005, and was the first iPod to use flash memory. It was first available in 2 GB and 4 GB versions. The fourth generation Nano was released on September 9, 2008.
  6. Size
  7. The fourth generation iPod Nano is 3.6" tall and 1.5" wide.
  8. Video
  9. The third generation Nano, released on September 5, 2007, was the first Nano to feature video playback. Storing videos on Nano can dramatically reduce the amount of songs it can hold.

IPod screen does not display and is all white but plays music

hello, Was someone messing around with the Contrast settings? If so, the Contrast may be set so low that you can't see the information on the iPod's screen. The only way to reset your iPod back to the factory defaults (including the Contrast setting) is to let the battery drain all the way out. Do whatever it takes to let the battery die then let the iPod sit overnight to be safe. Then the next morning, charge the battery and turn the iPod on. The first thing you should see is a screen asking you to select your language. If you can see your screen now, congratulations, this did the trick. If not, you probably need a new screen.

My 4 GB ipod nano has a blank screen but still lights up, blank with NO logo and I can play songs there is just no way to see what you are doing. I unplugged the ipod and the screen has been lit and blank...

First of all try rebooting your Ipod by holding down the center button while holding down on the menu button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, you Ipod is rebooting.

If that doesn't work, restore your Ipod back to factory setting in Itunes. It could be that the brightness and contrast settings of your screen got out of position allowing the screen to appear blank.
