have you enabled raid in the bios on your computer?

After you replaced the drive, did you rebuild the RAID array? Some of the higher end RAID controllers will try to rebuild automatically (if set to do so) but most must be rebuilt manually.

Reseat the drives, but DO NOT swap slots. Keep exact, in case of RAID configuration.

Use the Smartstart disc. It may show you the current array config.

Update server with Latest Firmware Media

use this guide, this is fo the embedded sata raid controller that comes standar with the ml150 g5.

Enabling SATA RAID functionality in the BIOS Setup Utility: 1.Boot the server, and then press F10 to enter the ROM-Based Setup Utility (RBSU).
2.Go to the advanced tab.
3.Enter the IDE configuration or hard disk configuration.
4.Change the ATA/IDE configuration to enhanced or SATA controller 2 enhanced (if not available then use enabled mode).
5.Configure SATA as RAID or configure controller 1 as RAID.
6.F10 to save and exit.
7.Reboot the server.
8.During post f8 will now show up for the embedded SATA set up.
•Creating the RAID volume.
1.Enter the embedded SATA setup by pressing f8 during post.
2.Enter the array configuration utility.
3.Enter create array.
4.Create the raid volume as desired.
5.Save and exit.

You will need to start with the HP SmartStart CD. If it did not come with the server, you will need to go to HP's site for that server model and download the image, burn to disk and boot from that CD (or DVD). The HP SmartStart CD should help you recognize partition and RAID-configure your drives, and begin the Windows (or other OS) installation process.

Disable the ASR auto-reboot feature from System Management web page. open a case at HP, and run the diagnostic tools from smartstart CD. Kindly let me know.

We had the same problem with a G5 version of the dl380, no video at boot or OS boot. This model fortunately had another video out on the front panel that worked. However, I believe that the G4 does not have that option coupled with using the Rage XL's from ATI for video. Have you tried installing another video card into the expansion slots for video? If you are able to, you may find that when you run your smartstart and load/reload the OS your video will work with the onboard.
