Check the light /door switch to see if something "sticky" has gotten into the switch and is causing it to not fully engage when the door is closed. You should be able to remoive the switch from the unit by prying it out of the opening, most switches have tabs on each short end of the switch houseing that can be depressed with a plastic putty knive (to avoid scratches and damage). You can disconnect the switch and try to clean it out, but frankly, you should replace the switch.

The best thing to do is to get a replacement switch to address the problem, especially since you've experienced food spoilage as a result of the added heat from the light(s) remaining on for an extended time.

Thanks for the low rating for the solution to your problem. I don't understand why you would provide such a low ranking for the solution unless you wanted someone to tell you how to get a $20 part for free from Viking. Frankly, if you have a Viking fridge and they didn't resolve your problem and you're online seeking free advice and solutions, you should probably hire a local service tech to come out and handle the problem for you. Especially since you got a solution the same day within an hour of posting your question!

PS: The switch also engages the fresh food section circulating fan, and since the light stays on, the circulating fan isn't being turned on, thus the fresh food section isn't being properly cooled, hence the reason to replace the very likely faulty switch.

How do you change out door switch that controls inside lights on a viking frig DDBB363Rss

If the unit doesn't have an exposed door switch(on the control panel), than the switch is on top of the door hinge and if that's the case contact your distributor because the unit might fall under a hinge recall which will also fix the door switch.

Refrigerator is staying at 50 degrees, will not get any cooler

May be your computer board, not turning on the defrost heaters in the freezer section. The freezer will eventually get warm too. Are you getting frost build-up on the rear wall of the freezer? If you are, you can temporarily solve the problem by turning off the whole refrige for a day and open up the freezer door- put towels on the floor under the freezer doors. Then turn it back on - mine worked fine again. I am currently waiting for a computer board replacement. It is behind the metal plate on the back (outside) of the cabinet. Good luck.

Top frig not cooling but bottom freezer is

The fan in the back of the freezer is for the freezer as well as the refrigerator. If the fan runs to slow the refrigerator does not get the chilled air, which cause it not to cool. I would have the fan swapped out to solve problem

Bottom freezer door opens when top door is open and then closed

the door pops open because freezer and frig. are connected together via duct. air pressure builds when you swing ref door closed. apply a small amount of vasoline to the surface of the hinge side of both gaskets. this will aid in door closure. also the unit may be not level

Freezer door opens When you close refir. door

The freezer door is relatively light weight, and when the fresh foods door closes, the air has to go somewhere and the easiest escape route is to momentarily pop the freezer door open. The door should close again quickly. If is does not, make sure the freezer door liner is not touching the top or bottom, causing dragging resistance, and make sure that the front leveling legs are raised up so the door closes by it's self when released from a 45 degree opening. Sometimes the hinge side gasket rubs and holds things up also, especially if that area was cleaned. If that is the case, rub a film of wax on the hinge side gasket to lubricate it. Additional weight in the freezer door will also help.
