Question about Microwave Ovens

Accesive steam coming out from the door?

I have a Amana commercial microwave RFS 12SW2. One of my employees recently cleaned the inside of the microwave and must have bumped something so that the fan or stirrer barely hits the cradle antenna(I think thats the offical name of the part) and the stirrer stops and has to restart running again. I was going to order a new cradle antenna but then my friend suggested getting a plastic spacer so the fan wouldn't hit the plastic cradle antenna. We did that, but then I heated some chicken and the steam that was created didn't seem to have a way to escape, and in 35 seconds steam was seaping out from under the microwave door. Is this normal? I seems to me that the fan isn't working properly as the steam should be able to dissapate some other way.

The stirrer and fan must be working properly.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

If you don't find it, download it here.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number (as RFS12SW2) from the tag on the oven here.

If you need it, we have uploaded the service manual here to our site to help you.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Hello,

I regularly repair Amana commercial microwave ovens.

  • What is the FCC ID number from the tag?

  • What is the Manufacturing number (like P76695, etc.)?

  • Is it making any unusual noises?

  • Is it running quieter or louder than usual?

How to clean between the double-glass on a microwave door

I don't think most microwave doors are serviceable. Open the door and look at the inside. See if there are screws there. Some companies like to hide screws under stickers or the door gasket.

Rc17 commercial microwave, display shows door even when door is closed.what can i do to resolve

Possible that the door lock switch is stuck and so is not releasing even after the door has opened. Look inside after disconnection of power to the microwave at the place where the door locks. Tap into the lock to release the switch . If the switch is jammed or damaged it must be taken out and replaced.

How do i clean the inside of the door, it has a screen that prevents proper cleaning.

Normally the internal part of the door is not cleaned as there is a film stuck over the inside of the door stopping food and steam from entering the inside parts.

Steam got inside door of microwave behind glass. Now there are white spots where water dried. How do I clean the inside?

Look and see if there are screws holding the inside of the door to the outside of the door.
If so, remove the screws and the door should come apart, and may be cleaned.
God bless your efforts.

Steam gets in the door and how can we clean and prevent?

This is usually due to incomplete venting or impaired air flow.

Assuming your hood vent exhaust fan is running properly, be sure your grease filter is clean (or if you use a charcoal type, it must be replaced when dirty) and be sure the exhaust ductwork and outside flapper are all clear.

I recommend that you always run the hood vent exhaust fan whenever you are cooking on the stovetop, too.

You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and part ordering help here. You can get new filters there, too.

The gasket holding the ceramic floor plate may be damaged. If so, it will need to be replaced, or clean the area thoroughly and apply caulk.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.
