Hi I have a Philips 40PFL3705D/F7 LCD TV. The picture shuts down after a while. Could be 3 weeks, 3 days or 3 hours of watching TV. Still have sound.

All I have to do is turn of TV and turn it on and picture is back. Again it is hard to tell how long it will last. I think heat has something to do with the frequency that the shutoff occurs. If it is a hot day out it happens more often. Can anyone assist me with the problem.

Maybe a thermal problem or there is something apart loose even use cold spray, manipulated by slight shaking or tapping components.

Testimonial: "Thanks. I was going to take it apart to see if there was something obvious. I wikk look for something loose or maybe airflow (dirt or dust plugging it up)"

You might need to get this checked with the manfucaturer, looks like a malfunctioning remote control. Or you can just replace the remot and see if that helps.

Gray picture

Look for loose contacts in power outlet, RC Jacks, sockets, cables. Change input device to some other like a DVD that you are sure works. Swith off TV, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours.

If problem persists, call in a qualified service technician.
