Connect the box to your tv then connect a digital tv antenna to the converter box, scan for channels and then your set.

How do you tune TV

A full retune should only takes a few minutes and can be done with your remote control. Here are some guidelines for how to do it, but bear in mind every model of digital TV or box will be a little bit different.
  • Make sure your Freeview TV or box is on and in digital mode, usually by pressing the DTV or digital button on your remote. Then press 'menu'.
  • Select the 'set up' or 'installation' option. If you see picture icons, select the tool box, satellite dish or spanner. If you are prompted for a code, try 0000 or 1234.
  • Select the full retune option. This is sometimes called 'first time installation', 'factory reset', 'default settings' or 'shipping conditions'. Do not select 'channel update' or 'add channels'.
  • Press 'OK' if your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels. Don't worry this is normal
  • Channels will automatically be installed. This may take a few minutes and your equipment may shut down and restart
  • In some cases, where transmitter signals overlap, it may be necessary to carry out a manual retune.
Note: Depending on your TV equipment, you may need to update your favourites list following a retune. Some digital recorders may require scheduled recordings to be reset.

How do I add channels using the remote?

YOu cannot ADD channel to a CRT TV anymore because Analogue transmissions no longer prevail.

You must use an HDTV digital set top box connected to the antenna input. These have an "Auto tuning" facility which you access from the MENU options. Any new channels which come into being will automatically be added into the memory of the set top box. You just need to remember to do a retune every so often to find out if other channels have come "On Air".

Matsui helpline

Just go to your TV settings and just do a full reinstall ,like the day you brought your TV ,below is from the web site your tv will work hope this will help.
The Freeview TV guide is being updated on Wednesday, 3 September 2014 to create extra capacity for new services. As a result, Children's and News channels will move to new channel numbers.
• The Children's genre will move from channel numbers in the 70s to start at 120
• The News genre will move from channel numbers in the 80s to start at 130
To update their guide viewers simply need to retune their Freeview TVs and digital recorders or boxes where equipment does not pick up the changes automatically. On-screen messages will prompt viewers to retune late afternoon 3 September 2014 onwards.
Viewers who don't retune will not lose channels - services will remain accessible at their old numbers. However, Digital UK and Freeview recommend viewers retune from time-to-time to ensure they have access to all available services in their area.

How to retrieve lost channels on digital tv

To restore missing channels, you need to retune your digital receiver (box or TV).

The retuning process runs a scan and finds all the available channels. Your box may have an Add New Channels option that you can use, but this may not pick up other changes such as channels being moved to a different multiplex or removed altogether.
How to retune
  1. Switch on your digital box and/or TV.
  2. Press Menu on the remote control.
  3. Select the Setup or Installation option.
  4. Select the 'First time installation' option (sometimes called 'Factory reset', 'Full retune' or 'Default settings').
  5. Press OK if your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels. Don't worry, this is normal.
  6. If you are prompted for a code, try 0000 or 1234.
  7. Channels will be automatically installed. This may take a few minutes and your equipment may shut down and restart.
  8. After retuning, you will have to redo your Favourites list and other settings. If you retune a digital TV recorder, you also should reset future recordings.

I cant seem to record on to my VCR but have no trouble playing old videos,is this because the VCR is old and therefore not digital? Retuning the TV with a box was no problem.

In order to record from the tv onto vhs, it is required that you have a tv signal coming straight to the vcr. If your converter box is plugged into the tv alone then the vcr won't record. To fix this, try plugging your converter box directly into the vcr, instead, and then plug the vcr into the tv. You may have to retune the channels. Good luck!

How to connect settop box to tv with no avs

You will have 2 UHF plugs on your set top box.. One for input (aerial) and 1 for output (TV). Connect your main aerial to set top box UHF input and connect an Output UHF lead from set top box to TV. Next switch on set top box and retune tv on a spare channel until you get set top box channels (good idea to switch on menu on set top box so you know you are tuned into set top signal )

Problem retuning Sagem PVR6240T set top box

Hey Agoodwin,

Looks like you have missed the final software updates for the PVR72xx and 62xx series last year. The bad news is that Sagem are not likely to send another update for their old models. If you check your box settings and you have software version 0.4.5. or less, your box will probably not work again. Sorry, mate...

Digital switchover

I also have the Sony IDTV KD-28DX4OU Digital TV.After the digital switchover I lost BBC1 and BBC2 despite retuning three times.
I contacted Digital switchover people (useless) and they passed the buck to Sony.I contacted Sony and they said they cannot fix the problem and that I should get a digital set top box. So the £650 I spent on integrated Digital TV has been wasted. If like me your cheesed off with this then I suggest you complain here

Press 'arrow down' button untill you reach option 12 'reset' . then push the 'right arrow' and tv will reset and start in plug and play mode and commence a scan when you've set the time.
