Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
I have a problem with the i, 8, comma key, and k keys . as u can see they somtimes work, but most of the time, they dont. i have to push the keys down about 50 times as hard as possible to get them to register. Is there an easy way to fix this problem?? Thanks
Prior to replacing the keyboard, you may just have some garbage under the keys that is preventing you from pressing it down fully, and as the laptop shifts the keys may work again or stop working.
You Can remove the keyboard per the above instructions, and clean it out well with compressed air, or as gently as possible remove the actual keys you are having issues with.clean beneath them and pop them back on after and see how well they work after. (don't use a vacume)
To put the keys back on I hook on one side and press firmly on the key until it clicks back in place with the other keys... if it is not sitting as it was before you took it off, then press more and wiggle it a bit until it is in place. Avoid breaking the little white plastic sping0type part beneath it.

If some keys on your keyboard aren't responding, the sensor under the key may be going bad. Fortunately replacing the entire keyboard for your Dell D600 is not very expensive. I recommend the keyboard at this web store:
To install a replacement keyboard, the plastic panel above the keyboard would need to be removed, which may be held on by some screws from the underside of the laptop. Then you can access the keyboard screws, and gently remove the keyboard cable from the motherboard.
