Question about LG 32LC7D Television

1 Answer

Power issue. The LG 32LC7D has been working fine (about 8 months) until today.  It was on for about a half hour and then turned itself off.  First thing I did was try to check the sleep timer, but when I went to turn it back on, the tv would only stay on for about 20 seconds.  During that 20 second window, the screen would wink out once at about 10 seconds and then turn off after another 10. There is nothing wrong with image quality. After about 3 tries I was able to get through to the screen to verify that the sleep timer was off.  Regardless, I've never heard of a sleep timer with a 20 second off setting.  I had been noticing within the last 2 months or so some clicking noises coming from the unit, but I thought that might have to do with it being colder. Any insights would be much appreciated. James

Re: Power issue.

I have been researching this TV and found that many had motherboard issues with this exact problem. The fix was to replace it. I would contact LG support ASAP and get it to a service rep before the 1 year warranty runs out. Good luck!

Why is my LG 32LC7D TV taking 5 minutes to have a picture when turning on.?

Likely signs of a issue that is going to only get worse---could be in power supply of set (first place to look) or could be main board or something that it controls.

Kind of like "My car runs rough when cold" it is a issue that is not full blown yet.

32" 32lc7d after a few minutes, flickers, then goes dark.

There are no fans in this model but it looks like either the backlights in the screen are breaking down after they have warmed up or a problem in the inverter board, again part of the driver circuit breaking down after a period of time. They inverter boards can sometimes be replaced seperatly but usually come with a new screen which if the backlights are at fault then the screen would need to be replaced.

My 2 month old 37" LG HDTV won't turn on...

You might consider using Best Buy's "Geek Squad" just to make sure the set is not a dud.   I'm sure if it's near to the 30 days, they would be real schmucks not to replace it.   But, maybe it's just a setting somewhere in a menu.  Have a good look at the manual with a beer, and I'm sure you will find something useful.
Good luck.
