Selecting storage media for finepix S9600

Can CF card can be used for instead of xD card for S9600? Whether any performance decrement will occur by using CF card?

Never go for an Xd card when you can go for a Compact flash. XD cards are far less reliable, and often have sofwatre cockups etc. Compact flash cards store very quickly and can be used in poor conditions

Http://www.dpreview.com/news/0608/06082412fujis9600.asp. this link says that your camera can run with either the XD or the CF card.

There wil not be any noticable change in performance.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

Data and bad sector Recovery software for 8 GB SAndisk

you can try some data recovery software. You can see
Recover data from memory card
It tells the steps how to perform data recovery.

If above does not work, you may have to format the memory card (use quick format), and then use above mentioned software to scan again the memory card and recover your files.

How do you connect storage media

Storage Media is just an USB stick or any type of memory stick (xd card, sd card, cf card, even micro sd is considered 'storage media') If you are trying to update and it is asking you to insert the firware with the storage media, you will have to put the files on a usb stick or any type of storage media and then insert the card in either the memory card slots (if you have a original 60/80g launch model), or use a memory card reader.

I hope you understand. Please post a new question if you need further assistance or click chat on my page.

As I am scrolling through the pictures on the camera, a "read error"message comes up. This is occuring with all of the memory chips - even the new ones so I do not think it is a chip problem. Can you offer...

you have two slots for memory cards .. one for XD and one for CF .. if you have trouble with one slot then you can try the other type card ..

if you are using a CF card or micro drive .. then look into the slot where they normally go .. look for bent or missing pins .. some CF memory cards don't have much of a "lead in taper" on their connector .. sometimes they will snag a pin and bend it, push it out of place or break it ... sometimes you can straighten it but replacing a broken pin is a big job .. usually the whole connector will be replaced if its sent in for repair .. if you have trouble with the CF slot you can instead use a XD memory card .. or visa versa .. the little LED flashlights are ideal for looking into the memory slot...
make sure you format any new memory cards in the camera before use .. that should pick up any problems and makes sure the card is compatable with the system ..

Fujipix S9600 - just a white screen - can't get to any menus.

the s9600 does not use sd carde, it uses xd and cf, you might have damagesd the camera by forcing the wrong type of card in, fujifilm's repair center might be able to fix it, but it might be broken too badly

sadly a warrenty will not cover accidentally putting the card in the wrong way, as it is tecnically your fault, but you can use the slot for xd cards, if you do not want to pay for a new cf slot
