Sell it to me. I'll give you a PC and you'll love it. You could try reversing the polarity so it blows instead of sucks.

Go to Apple :: System Preferences :: Displays :: Display and Color and say what the settings are. Mine are 1280 x 800, Millions of colors, Show displays in menu bar; Color LCD.

Also specify model. If in doubt, go to Apple :: About This Mac.
    Mine is Model Identifier: MacBook5,2

    Then for (same) :: Graphics/Displays.
You can tell us which Chip and VRAM.

I didn't think that was possible with the newer macbooks, even if a person wanted a black/white screen.. sounds like a hardware defect/malfunction without an easy user solution. i recommend taking it to an apple store to have it checked out, or using the hardware test if you have it, or a service estimate.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Does the Apple logo or the Pinwheel show on the screen?

There is a problem with you OSX installation. Please boot from the Recovery partition (hold Cmd+R during the startup chime), and use Startup Disk to choose the correct hard drive to boot from.
You can also restore from a backup, and not lose your data here as well.

Hello barry_carrot,

I work for Imation and we would advise you to try the following option:
restart to your Macbook without the external drive attached.
Open your Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilites folder).
Plug in your hard drive.
If the drive shows up in the list in the Disk Utility First Aid window, click on the drive, and then click on Repair Disk. If the process repairs anything, run the same Repair Disk a second time to see that it runs with no problems found. If some other error comes up, or it won't repair a problem found, then I would recommend moving this drive to a PC, and trying a repair tool through Windows.

Note: if you see the "repair" option grayed out, Going back to Disk Utility - (you won't be able to select Verify/Repair Disk Permissions), but Verify or Repair Disk should be available if you click on the device (the entry showing the manufacturer's info for your external drive).

If that doesn't help you, please contact the Imation product support department at the phone number 1-800-351-8186 option 2.

Not really. LCDs are very fragile - far more so than the manufacturers of MacBooks and PCs would have us all believe. The only remedy is to get a new one fitted.

MacBook Desktop Lost My Desktop Folders

If the colour circle shows... find a tiny bit of wallpaper showing through the back, then click. Then, you should see it labled finder instead of preview. Next, click on the blue apple. If it doesn't happen immediatly, a dropdown bar will show in a couple minutes. In the dropout bar, click Force Quit. It usually takes 2 minutes for the Force Quit window to show up. It'll ask you what you want to force quit,  Look at the choices and force quit all of the ones that say: NOT RESPONDING. Then the computer will clear up for a while, in wich you can probably preview your pictures.
