First check to see if the parking brake mechanism is engaged, if it is and wont release lubricate it with penetrating oil and work it in to all moving parts, working them back and forth until they move freely, if it has been setting outside for a long time, you may just have to do this with the brake pedal and linkage also.

Hi,
There are a couple of sensors that will stop the engine....the one on the brake...the seat sensor and the PTO sensor...
One of those is not reading correctly or is broken...to find the problem you will need to find the sensors and then troubleshoot them by jumpering them or disconnecting them....

My bet would be the seat sensor is not telling it that you are in the seat....

Landrover Discovery 3 EPB stuck

Have you tried applying foot brake before releasing park brake. You will need a good battery to release the brake with ignition on. Also you need to depress footbrake to move shift lever from PARK

My 02 mustang is stuck in park and i have no brake lights

All indications of a bad neutral safety switch. It's a safety feature designed to prevent you from shifting from Park without your foot being on the brake. If the switch is bad, the car can't sense your foot on the brake to allow you to shift it from Park.

My Janome sewing machine wont stop.

The only thing I can think of is that the foot pedal may be slightly stuck and not returning fully up after being depressed. Unplug the foot pedal and check for anything stuck there then give it a good wiggle up and down a few times.

I have a 2005 Nissan Altima will not shift out of park.I have replaced the shifter assemble, brake lights do work,Need help

If the floor shift lever wont move out of park, there foot brake lock that prevents it from moving until you depress the brake pedal and pull it out of park. I think the release is vacuum operated so try depressing the brake pedal a few time while trying to release. TerBo

My mercury mariner starts fine but wont shift out of park. Mostly only does this after sitting awhile, it's a 2006 model year with center console shift. The shift button on shifter wont depress.

There is a shifter solenoid that prevents it from being shifted out of park without your foot on the brake pedal. The solenoid may be bad or your brake pedal switch may be bad.

Brake pedals are stuck down and cant be moved....

Will need the model number for best results, but insure that your parking brake lever is not still engaged. Typically a lever on or below the "dash". You would need to depress the foot brake and at the same time, release the parking brake handle.
