Most likely a mechanical problem. check the timing of the gears in the mechanism.

Someone is going to have to take the unit apart---mechanism issue with the tray or the gears that lower it etc---not too many shops left that work on VHS decks anymore so call around first.

Did you try cleaning the tape head of the player?

For some reason be sure all the gear or any mechanical inside the player is freely rotating.

Adjust the VCR tracking to get a good picture.

Have MAG TV model CT270MW8 27 inch that wont stay on unless a VHS tape is in and then only if VHS player ejects it (automatically) and then reiserts itself. The tape then/must stay in

You have a mechanism problem in the player---it has two sensors in the tray and they detect the tape is in and load it.

If the unit was working it will each time turned on cycle the mechanism to see that it functions--shutdown if not functioning correctly.

VHS player ejects the adaptor

Please check to see it the battery on your adapter is worrking fine. Or else replace the battery . If mechanical type load up the tape before you load the cassette to the player. If this ejects again the adapter is not landing well into the mechansim. cleck within the tray for any foreign bits that is preventing the adapter from loading. Also if the end sensors are detecting , use a tape to cover the inner hole of the adapter. if the tape is tight in the adaptor- check for free state by turning with the finger.
If your regular tapes are playing well then you will get the fault without much of an issue but recheck on these tips. Helpful? good day

probably caused by the mechanism being mis-timed. re-timing isn't difficult, but a service manual is absolutely necessary.

"End of Tape" message

It sounds to me that the sensor that senses the end of the tape is defect.
This is a tiny bright LED which you can easily overlook because it sometimes is fitted in a plastic frame.

Video tape stuck

Unplug the VCR, take the cover off, find the motor (probably on the right side of the mechanism) and turn its shaft with your fingers until you have run the tape back out. Now plug it back in and try it again with a scarificial tape. If it continues to fail, replace all the rubber belts in the mechanism.
Hope ya fix it!

most likely problem is a dirty or defective mode switch. this switch tells the internal computer what position the mechanism is in. if the switch is bad, the computer is "confused."
