I'm not sure what your question is, but you need to replace the air filter and in the future, don't clean the foam filter in gasoline. They will deteriorate with time, but gas will speed up that process. Wash it in dishwashing detergent next time.

I HAVE REMOVED THE AIR FILTER WHICH IS BLACK WITH DUST, HOW SHOULD I CLEAN IT? WITH WHAT SHOULD I CLEAN THE AIR FILTER, WATER OR GASOLINE OR SOMETHING ELSE?

You don't say what the filter is in but never gasoline, unless it is an engine air filter in a vehicle, and then only one that is foam and reusable. Typically, blow with an airline, only do that once or twice and then buy new.

Home filters for furnaces, heating? Buy new.

Vacuum cleaners, wash in soapy water, shake and dry thoroughly.

Air purifiers, same as above.

Tip

Basic lawnmower spring maintenance

Before it gets too late its worth firing up the lawnmower (and any other garden power tools) to make sure they are running well for the coming months. Here are a few basic tips to make sure it will be worry free for the summer.

Give it gas: fill it up with fresh quality gasoline (mixed properly with fresh oil if its a 2 stroke). Old gas is not the same as new gas, volatile compounds will evaporate over time leaving you with gas that is harder to burn. Ideally you have used up everything in the tank the previous fall.

Let it breathe: make sure the air filter is clean. For foam filters you can just clean them with a bit of gasoline (you can use the old stuff if you still have some). Paper filters need to be replaced, typically every year.

Light the fire: a strong spark is the key to reliable ignition. If the first two tips don't give good results its probably time to change the spark plug.

Power washer runs until air filter is put back on

Have you replaced the air filter? Without the air filter the engine is getting enough oxygen to support combustion. With the air filter it does not get enough oxygen. If you have not replaced the filter it sounds like it is time to replace it. If you have been "cleaning" the old filter and reusing it, small particles may be lodged in the filter, reducing the airflow. Is it a pleated paper filter or a oil dipped foam filter. If it is a foam filter, have you cleaned it? If you replaced it was it a store replacement or a piece of foam you obtained and made it fit? Foam can be closed cell or open cell , both look similar but closed does not allow airflow and open does .

If the filter is clogged would it quit working

Hi there! If the filter is clogged this will cause the vacuum to lose suction and possibly shut-off. Below are instructions to checking and cleaning your filters.

1. Remove the dirt cup. Twist off the dirt cup lid.
2. Remove the filter cartridge from dirt cup.
3. Separate the foam and cartridge filters. Wash foam filter under running. Allow 24 hours to air dry outside the vacuum.
4. Tap the excess dirt out of Hepa filter. Hepa filter may also be washed. Allow 24 hours to air dry.
5. Check the secondary filter by removing the filter cover from base. Rinse the foam filter under running water until it runs clear. Allow 24 hours to air dry.
6. The red baffle tube inside of the dirt cup is apart of the filtration of the vacuum and needs to be cleaned as well. Twist out the baffle tube by turning 1/4 turn clockwise. Remove any hair or debris wrapped around baffle tube. Baffle tube can be rinsed if needed. Allow to dry thoroughly.

If the filters are too dirty they may need to be replaced. With regular maintenance the filters should be replaced about once a year. Follow the links below to order replacement filters for your UH20020.

2002 rm 125 oil drain plug size

Anyone who uses gasoline to clean an air filter - needs to re-think that. Gas totally ruins the seams and shortens the life of foam air filters. Gasoline is far too harsh a solvent to clean an air filter. Use something a bit "softer" like Kerosene or even Diesel. These will help your air filter last much longer. Where, sure, gasoline will clean the filter, and many people have been using it for years to clean foam air filters, but, really, gas is horrible for cleaning air filters in the long run. Not to mention how dangerous it is.

If you want to save money, and NOT have to buy air filters as often, do NOT use gasoline to clean it. Use Kerosene or gentler solvents. Any good mechanic will tell you the same.

Hard to start and oil soaked air filter, smokes and loses power

It sounds like it got tilted on its side. The air filter needs to be cleaned or replaced and the carburetor needs to be removed and cleaned.

When the tiller gets tipped over toward the air filter, oil will run out into the filter and the carburetor.

If the filter is foam you can clean it with gasoline, if its paper just buy a new one.

The carburetor is between the air filter box and the engine, it should come off with a few bolts, just remember where the springs hook up.

Open it up, take it apart and spray everything with carburetor cleaner from your local auto parts store. When you put it all together it will run like new!

My trimmer will start fine but after about 15 min of trimming will just sputter and die. can you tell me what the problem is?

Check 2 things for me, first check the air filter, it might need to be cleaned or replaced. If its made of foam just clean it in some gasoline, if it paper, buy a new one.

If that doesn't fix the problem you may have to remove and clean the carburetor, it is located directly behind the air filter and comes off with a couple screws. Just take it completely apart and spray everything with carburetor cleaner from your local auto parts store.

That should make it run like its brand new.

Mower runs but idles up and down n not at a steady hihg speed. Its bogging down constantly.

I would check the air filter and see if it is clogged up where the air goes through it. You can clean the foam element air filter with warm soapy water or clean gasoline. Make sure the air filter is dry before putting it back on the unit. Also when the air filter is off you may check to see if any dirt has gotten on the inside of the carburetor. This will need to be cleaned out as well. If the above does not help with the unit surging, then you will probably have to replace the gasket and diaphragm underneath the carburetor. You will most likely need B/S PN# 795083, but make sure to take the model type and code off of the flywheel housing to make sure you get the correct part. It will be stamped in to the metal of the flywheel housing above the spark plug or above the muffler.
