Try freezing tracks that dont requre any thing doing to them, for example drum tracks that dont require any more tweaking, freezing tracks saves CPU

It is quite possible that you have too many audio tracks playing at the same time. You could also be running at too high of an audio resolution for your computer to handle. You can usually tell how hard the computer is working by looking at the percentage bar in the top right. If its over 70% your hardware is working too hard. You should always consolidate your audio tracks after recording them. This saves CPU work. To consolidate an audio track you simply right click on it in the side-scrolling view and select consolidate. Other than that you can try lowering your bit depth or sampling rate and see if the problem improves. Ableton has some pretty cpu intensive reverbs and instruments as well. You may want to try to exercise some restraint when putting a bunch of software synth tracks together. You can also freeze midi or audio tracks that you are not currently editing by right clicking on them and selecting freeze. This dulls their sound somewhat, but allows you to get a feel for the mix without overtaxing your computer. And lastly, you can always upgrade your hardware :P

Audacity is a copyrighted audio source and does not permit you to record tracks or playback of any kind. you will need to D/L the audio file you are trying to record in tangent and then play them together through an audio remixing app, like Ableton live or FL Studio

Weird midi

A few things to try:
1) if your oxygen is connected using a midi cable instead of a usb cable it could be that the midi cable is damaged.
2) you may want to try changing the preset of your oxygen: use the buttons on the oxygen, near the two digits led, to selelct a program between 01 and 15, this will change the values assigned to the knobs
3) you may have some kind of midi loop going on, try going to the preferences in ableton and disable all midi controllers (remote, sync, track) both in and out; then enable only the oxygen for track IN and remote IN which is actually all that you need.

I guess you are in the arrange window right now. Try switching to the mixer window. You can switch between this windows at the side of je ableton screen. It is divided by 3 horizontal lines and 3 vertical lines.

adjust your audio buffers, if your recording software allows it. however, there will always be some latency in usb recording devices. i recommend firewire or pci internal cards for recording.

Me and some buddies record with sonar home studio 6 and i bought a new pc custom built for recording well our computers on tha same day and time started having problems with sonar popping and glitching...

Sounds like what is called a latency problem. You need to go into the settings in Sonar and under audio, adjust the Latency to a higher number...I don't know sonar home studio, or I would tell you the exact area to go in the menu's to adjust latency..Hope this helps!

Tascam Us144 and Sonar3 problem!!!!

Try this experiment:  Record a click track on track #1.  Record track #2 of the output of a monitor speaker playing track #1.
Now you have two click tracks which will probably not be cooincident (like they should be).
Measure the offset of the two tracks!  You now know your latency exactly, and can compensate by adjusting settings or moving the vocal track back manually that many milliseconds!

SONAR LE NO AUDIO

Microsoft re-engineered the audio bus for Windows. HD Audio is hardware specific, in the sense that specific drivers have to be written to make a piece of hardware compatible with it. Roland is not writing a driver for the UA 25 because they want you to buy an UA 25EX. Get my drift? The UA 25 uses Kernel Streaming, the old way, which exists in parallel, sort of, with the HD Audio bus. But the new ways are always prioritized over the old ways in software, so there is bus contention (glitching).

To fix this there are a few things you can try:

1) Roll back to SP2. SP3 implements the HD Audio bus, so don't use that implementation. If your laptop has an HD audio sound card then I doubt it would work, but your UA 25 would.

2) Try ASIO 4 ALL. This fixed everything but glitching in VST instruments.

3) Reduce the amount of stuff your computer is doing. Optimize your OS by turning off the cute shaded windows and desktops and various processes that you don't need to see or use. There are sites for this. This increases available RAM, CPU time, etc.

4) Video hardware acceleration, sometimes, would fix bugs in software left in by not so clever programmers.

4) You can always just give-up and go along with the bastards and buy new stuff and toss the old stuff.

Problem with playback

Hi, I have the same audio interface. Alright, make sure that all of your effects are turned off. you probably (and most likely) have the "fx voice", "amp drive", "chorus" and "delay" effects turned on (bottom row). There is no way you should have distortion with tremolo & reverb on playback all the same time without the effects being turned on. the pop ticking could be produced by the buffer size. If youre using Sonar LE, you should tweek the buffer size until playback sounds smooth. I hope I helped! Good luck!
