Question about Palm TX Handheld

Open Question

Memo file won't open on Palm TX and device automatically reboots.

When I try to launch the Memo application on my TX the device crashes and does a soft reset. I have no idea how to delete the file since I can't open it. Any ideas?

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

The Palm TX can turn get turned on by accident when your carrying it around if you don't have keylock turned on and it will shut off automatically after 30 seconds to 3 minutes of not using it depending on what setting you have it set on

SOURCE: Palm TX reboot

I was able to identify a third party software program I had installed that was causing the problem. When I deleted it, the problem was solved. Rebooting did not solve it. Thanks.

SOURCE: Palm TX Touchscreen does not work

Search youtube for Palm TX Digitizer Replacement and Palm TX Take Apart Direction. If you think you can do it, or know someone who can, you can order a replacement digitizer on ebay for from somewhere like www.pdaparts.com.

Before ordering the part, you may want to start by opening the palm and cleaning the connecting ribbon cable contacts to make sure that a loose cable or oxidation has not caused your problem.

I INADVERTANTELY DELETED ALL MY ADDRESS BOOK FROM THE PC AND THE HANDHELD. I CAN STILL SEE THEM ON MY COMPUTER IN THE C DRAIVE BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET THEM BACK TO THE PALM PROGRAM. CAN YOU HELP?

Your Palm device can accept vCard items from a Bluetooth enabled PC. First, you'll need to save the item on your PC as a vCard file, then use Bluetooth technology to send it to your handheld. Here's how:

  1. On your PC, launch the PIM application that contains the Contact you want to send.
  2. Navigate to the individual Contact, and save it as a vCard file. Depending on your PIM, there are different ways to do this:
    • Palm Desktop: After highlighting the Contact you want to send, go to the File menu and select Export as vCard. Select a file location and file name, and click OK.
    • Outlook: After opening the Contact you want to send, go to the File menu and select "Export to a vCard file." Select a file location and file name, and click OK.
  3. On your PC, navigate to the vCard file you just created. Right-click the file. Select Send To, then select the Bluetooth option. Your Bluetooth options at this point will vary according to your Bluetooth Configuration software. Eventually, you should reach a list of Bluetooth devices. Select your Palm device from this list and send.

Hope this helps

Can't pull up information from SD Card to my Palm TX

Was the card formatted? The TX doesn't come with a built-in file viewing or file management application for SD cards. Depending on the type of files, you should be able to view those files (or lists of them) with the application that is appropriate to those files...i.e. Documents with Documents To Go, music with PocketTunes, etc. Also, some applications will look for files in particular folders. Music files should be in the /audio folder, for example. When you format the card in the Palm using the Card Info application, it creates these folders automatically. But, you want to be able to view the files with something like a Windows Explorer app, right? The free answer is something called FileZ. Google the name and you'll find it...maybe at www.freewarepalm.com or other sites. It does the job and it's free. But for something that's really the cat's meow in Palm file viewers, check out Resco Explorer. It does much more, including a .zip application, and other things. But it's not free. Check it out at www.resco.net or www.handango.com.

Have a palm tx ,When calendar is chosen, the handheld crashes.

You probably need hard reset because there is most likely a corrupted program that is messing it up. I've gone through over ten different times where I had to hard reset. Get used to it.

I have an entry in the memo feature of my palm. Everytime I try to access the information the palm goes black and reboots? What causes this to happen and how can I retrieve the information?

When a Palm OS device reboots like that, it shows that there is a driver conflict. Somewhere along the line some software that was installed is conflicting with other software on the device and causes the reset. I would suggest deleting applications from the device one by one and testing after each to see if the reset is still happening. If you are using the Palm Desktop software that came with the device and performed a Sync (backup) after you created the Memo... it should be saved and accessible in the Desktop software (Memo tab). If no Sync was performed after creating the Memo, you will need to remove applications one at a time until the software conflict is removed allowing you to run your device without the constant reboots. It's a bit of a tedious process, but the only solution if you didn't back up the device after creating the memo you are trying to retrieve.

Hope that helps

Installing audio or image files on an expansion card

You can transfer audio and image files to an expansion card in your handheld. It's easy; just perform a HotSync operation after placing the files into the Install Tool. Here's how: 1. Insert an SD expansion card into your device. 2. On your desktop computer, launch Palm Desktop (even if you normally synchronize with another application). 3. Click the Install button. 4. At the top of the Install Tool window, make sure the correct user name is chosen from the pulldown menu. 5. Drag and drop the audio or image files from your hard drive into the Install Tool window. 6. You'll notice that the destination for the audio files will always be "Secure Digital card." You can install audio files only to an expansion card, and not to the device's internal memory. 7. Perform a HotSync operation. 8. Launch your handheld's third-party audio player and open songs from your expansion card, or launch your handheld's image viewer and open images from the card. Please refer to the audio player's or image viewer's documentation to learn how to do this (it varies from application to application).
