Question about HP iPAQ H3635 Pocket PC

1 Answer

Ipaq unresponsive I replaced the battery on my ipaq 3635, placed it on the cradle to charge it overnight, now it doesn't work at all; I did the hard reset with no luck. Not even the charge indicator turns on. Did I do anything wrong? Am I missing something?

I PUT THE OLD BATTERY BACK, AND IT'S STILL UNRESPONSIVE. I DID WHAT YOU TOLD ME TO DO; I REMOVED THE BATTERY,PLACED IT BACK ON THE CRADLE,AND NOTHING HAPPENED

I have roughly the same problem with my H3600. I was not using it so I put it in a drawer. I was told that these batteries should not be let drain to zero. So....I put the wall charger in the unit and left it there (~ 1 month). I went back the other day to re-start and reload all. It will not start. I press the button and all I get is a blank screen. I opened the little door on the bottom and turned it off then on. No cigar.

Kept my old battery (thinking I may have fried the battery) and tried to swap the old battery back. Nothing. Same behavior. The screen lights up but does not boot.

Comments?...before I ebay it as scrap

That's a very odd scenario. Have you tried putting it on the cradle without the battery? One possibility is that it was an incorrect battery that you put into it and it somehow fried the PDA. That's however very unlikely. Have you tried putting your old battery in it?

If the unit will work while in the charger, it is most likely the battery has reached the end of its useful life. If this is the original battery, you are quite fortunate it has lasted this long and have taken good care of it because these batteries seldom last more than a two or three years before needing replacement.

Compaq iPAQ 3850 Not charging/turning on

Try this - don't give up Leave it charging, even if it takes three days. I sold one a few years ago on ebay and the buyer was insistent it wouldn't charge. Eventually it did start charging and there were no more problems.

Ipaq H3835 PDA - won't hold charge??

If you purchase a new battery, they usually come with directions and special tools to change the battery. I had the same issue with 2 of mine when I got them at a used electronics store. IF it is the battery that is not working, then replacing it is easy, and you can get a replacement at your local Battery-Plus store.

In my case, one was fixed by a new battery, the other was not, and I actually had to press pretty hard in the cradle to get the second one to work. It never worked out of the cradle, so I gave that one to a neighbor kid to tear apart and see if he could get it working. (I got them for $15, so no big loss.)

Ipaq hw6500 wont turn on

If the battery was inserted to the unit prior to its storage, it might be the cause. Try charging battery directly in its cradle overnight or use new battery pack. If not then its hardware and/or formware problem. Sometimes electronic gadgets fail to work after prolonged storage due to to capacitor/condenser in its circuitry.

Try taking out battery and plug in power. If it works, battery is faulty. If not,
Try taking out your hard disk plug in power, if it works, hard disk is faulty. If not,
Try taking out memory card, if there's a sound, memory card faulty. If no sound, it's your motherboard that is causing the error.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

My H5450 won't charge!

When you charge up your iPaq, do you use the cradle, or do you use the AC-adapter with the little iPaq power converter that came with the iPaq? Try both, and see if it charges up your pda. Try and borrow an iPaq car-charger and see if it charges up that way (the ones that do not need the iPaq power converter). If you are lucky enough to power up the iPaq even for 2 minutes, enable USB fast charging in the SETTING -> BATTERY. Your USB-data-cable or cradle will then be able to charge it up that way...
