That the 7940 and 60
phones from Cisco do not support the IEEE 802.3af Power Over Ethernet
they would work if you
simply reversed the polarity of 2 of the pairs of wire. i.e
by swapping 4 with 7, and 5 with 8 you could use a standard
POE injector to power the phone.
if you have a crimp tool and some cable laying around, you can give it
a whirl and it works. If you aren't familiar with making cable,
don't try this
Basically, you just wire one side of the cable as standard 568b
and then reverse 4 and 7, and 5 and 8 on the other side. Then,
simply plug your Cisco into a standard POE injector and Your phone works.

When I enable the vlan option in an EAP9550 I lose wireless access

Is the goal to use a different VLAN for each access point (AP)? If so then you will need to configure each NetGear port to use the same VLAN as the AP that is connected to it. You will then need either a switched virtual interface (SVI) for each VLAN on the NetGear or a trunk port (802.1q) from the NetGear to the Cisco. I'm not sure the NetGear will support SVIs but it will support trunks. An SVI basically creates a gateway for each VLAN's subnet. For example, let's say AP1 uses VLAN 10 and the subnet is while AP2 uses VLAN 20 with a subnet. The NetGear will need 2 SVIs, one for each VLAN/subnet. The first SVI for VLAN 10 can be configured with IP address while the second SVI can be configured with for VLAN 20. These IP addresses will be the gateway for each VLAN. Finally, the NetGear would need to act as a router and route each VLAN's subnet to the Cisco device. Once again I don't believe the FS726TP supports this.

The other solution would be to create a VLAN trunk port between the NetGear and the Cisco device but I believe the Cisco RV042 does not support trunking. If it does the trunk would be configured to carry all of the VLANs to the Cisco device which would then have SVIs created on it.

If neither of the above is possible you would need to use the same VLAN for each AP and each of the interfaces on the NetGear and Cisco devices which negates the need for the VLANs.

I hope this helps.

My landline is hook up to ciso an thats hook up to netgear how do i make calls out

If it's a cable modem you should have your phone landline connected to the cable model, if you have a "bundle". TV, Broadband, Phone with your provider. For example: I have Comcast/Xfinity bundle, TV, Phone, High Speed Internet. At the Comcast Modem it has a Phone jack RJ-11 for landline and Fax and a RJ-45 for my Wireless Access Point and Ethernet cable.

Converting Cisco 7940 IP Phone to SIP

Unlocking a Cisco 7940

Method 1:
1) Unplug the phone
2) Plug the phone back in while holding the # key
The phone will soon display “Reset key sequence detected”
3) After several lights flash press the following keys in order:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 * 0 #
4) The phone will then ask you if you want to save the network configurations:
Save network cfg? 1=yes 2=no
5) The phone will soon display “Factory reset initiated” and will continue
through the boot up process.
If that process fails to work for some reason there
is a second method.

Method 2

Complete these steps:
  1. Press Settings.
  2. The Network Configuration lock symbol must be unlocked. If not, exit to the main window and press ** # again.
  3. Press 3 on the keypad (or scroll down) for Network Configuration.

  5. Press the Yes softkey.
  6. Press the Save softkey.
The phone will now be reset.
