Question about Toshiba Satellite L25-S119 Notebook

1 Answer

I have Toshiba Satellite L25 with Windows XP, all updates. The card is Netgear WG511 v2. I bought a card few days ago and am trying to set up wireless access. The problem happened already in 3 different places and looked the same. The computer can see the wireless networks around. It tries to connect to a network, shows progress , but then returns to the screen with the list of wireless networks all disconnected. Thus I had not been able to connect to any wireless network so far. I need to connect to my home router and to a couple of networks at the university, have the network keys. Somehow I doubt this is the card problem, I think something is wrong with the software. The device manager says that the card is working properly. It blinks fine and also it finds networks fine too. Tried restarting and looked at all settings, nothing seems suspocious so far. May be there is a service that needs to be started? This computer was connecting to networks with a different card long time ago, but this card is old and new networks don't support it anymore.

Thanks, this was a good idea. I updated from 3.0.0 to 3.1.7.

The link you sent me didn't give the driver, but I went to Netgear and
downloaded from there. Interestingly, the original driver I also have uploaded
    from there...

    So, this didn't help.
I am trying now the wireless manager by Netgear.
The situation is the same - I can see the networks, but
nothing happens when I try to connect to it.

It tries to login with a network key but never turns green.
So it keeps scanning the channels.
    I uninstalled SP3, that didn't help too.

    What should I do next?

Thanks. These are not bad suggestions, although I think the problem is in Toshiba+XP+plus driver, not in the card.
I will see if any of that helps and let you know.

Do you have the latest driver installed for this card? You can uninstall it from the following website.

http://www.driverslab.com/drivers/Net_Card/Netgear/WG511T_3_1_0-Windows_98_Me_2000_XP/3792.html

Try that and let me know how it goes and if it doesn't work, we will go from there.

My best shot for you was the new driver and Device Manager. You may want

to call Tech Support for the card. I know you may not want to do that but

sometimes they do help. For the USA 1-888-NETGEAR
    or

    1-888-638-4327

Sorry that I couldn't be more help. I would try uninstalling everything, remove the card, install the driver, and then install the card and see if that would work. I would also at the encryption type on the router but it happens on multiple ones so that probably isn't it.

Toshiba Satellite L25-S119 Win 7 Audio

Sorry, your sound card driver for windows 7 is not release by tosiba company.Even if they have release driver for Windows Vista too.It might have work.

So you won't be able to play audio sound on your laptop using windows 7.Either you need to downgrade to Windows XP or windows 2000 or you may get a new USB external sound card which support windows 7.
